What weight gear lube to put in 04 rear

They guys I want to change the differential fluid in the rear.I pull a 5000 lbs camper, and after hearing all the problems with the rears want to go to synthetic mobil 1. The question is what weight to put in. The 04 spec is 75-90 I think but on the 05 they are using 75-140. The rears are the identical except for the diff cover. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Bobbyo

There is a TSB changing the specs on the '04 to 75-140. Some people have bought the '05 finned cover and put it on the '04. Some people have bought the extra-capacity finned cover from PML.

If you can find it, get the 75-140 Mobil 1. I couldn't find it locally, so I used Nissan's syn lube.

Been running 75/140 Mobil1 in my 04 since around 600 miles. Still have the steel cover on there.

My cover got baked and rusted just a couple of weeks ago. The case was full, as I topped it off as soon as I got my Titan. It had the 75W90 in it.

I took it in for an oil change and pointed out the cover to the Service Advisor. He had the tech look at it, who in turn ordered me a new rear diff. Two days later, they called me and said the new one was in and I went and got it put on.

According to my SA, if your diff cover has "baked and rusted", it should be replaced because it has already gotten plenty hot. Mine showed no signs of pending failure, but there was metal floating around in the fluid. This was more than enough to get a new rear diff.

...and all I wanted was the cool new finned cover.
