Exclamation CRAPPY welds on Titan 04 LE

Hey is it just my TITAN or do all u guys have crappy welds on ur titan. I was installing my alarm and had to take off all the dash panels and saw what a terrible job NISSAN did on the welds under the dash. Anyone else noticed this? It looks PRETTY BAD. I paid bout 31000 for my titan about 8 months ago and its doesnt look worth the money when taking a look at the welds...

I wouldn't worry, it looks like it will rust out long before the welds fail.

What's so crappy about them? They look strong to me
Your comparing them to what????
I consider myself to be a pretty decent welder and I doubt that I could do much better.

It looks to me to be a "Vender" part . Seeing how its not painted and didnt go through the paint plant, therefor wasnt welded in the bodyshop. True enough it is attached to a Nissan truck, And becomes a nissan product. But more than likely was welded by non nissan techs at a non nissan location. Besides the welds dont look to bad, I dont see any holes and it is welded with steel and not copper. Probley thicker than alot of the other welds on your truck .
......... But I did see a HolidayInn Commercial !!!

Those are smooth seam welds (not inferior spot welds) and look great to me. The piece that is welded is not painted but why should it be? It is covered up by the dash and can't be seen anyway. Also, you can see in your picture that a lot of wires are grounded to this part. Because the part is unpainted, it will probably allow for a better ground.

Remove that same panel on ANY vehicle...even a Lexus, you'll see the same exact thing. Not pretty but.....don't need to be.

Of all the things to scrutinize this is what you come up with? This isn't a nuclear reactor folks. The welds look good to me, better than I can do.

looks like a good job and more than enough weld to hold brackets and such.

Granted, they don't look like a roll of nickels like a TIG weld. But, they are very good MIG welds. Plenty strong enough for what they are used for. If anything, the weld puddles look to be overkill.

I agree with you. The welds are inferior because I have had them repaired twice already in that area along with a total replacement of my steering column.

What caused the welds to break? Those are not structural welds, they just hold the dash together.

Extreme monkey lovin' in the front seat caused him to kick the dash violently, which therefore caused those "bad" welds to fail.

Just my best guess as to why one would fail.
