Gas Guage Sticking?

Anyone know what causes this? The only change I've made to vehicle is had a dual exhaust kit installed with pipes pointing down instead of out the back or side. Would the heat from the exhaust cause this. And no SAMMY I didn't run a search. Please forgive me.

The guage isn't sticking, it's the sending unit. There is a TSB on this. Take your truck back to the dealer and they will put in a new fuel pump and sending unit (its all one integrated piece). Good luck!

Don't expect them to replace the FSU on the first trip. I've been in about mine sticking at a little less than F (with pic to prove it) and they passed it off as being a quirk that I needed to watch more and if it didn't go above half tank in the future, then they'd replace it. I have yet to go back yet since that visit since I'm waiting on the brake parts for the final fix, but the FSU could be responsible for not only the fuel guage sticking, but also getting some hesitation when I give it gas, although that hasn't happened lately. Good luck

I agree! I have to take my Titan in for a host of things, the gas gauge being one of them. If I don’t like what I hear from dealer A, then I am on my way to the next dealer. There is no reason that these dealerships should not fix the problems that we are having with our trucks. A vehicle warranty is a major reason a lot of people buy new cars, they need to suck it up and do their jobs!

not at all - the only other dealer nearby is owned by the same 'automotive group' and they're actually worse than my dealer. The next closest one is 20 miles away and I already did my time with a dealer that far away when I had my Tundra. My service advisor is great and while yeah they should have replaced it under warranty/TSB, it's not something to lose sleep over as I can battle it when I go back for the perm brake fix which I need to call on Monday about. I can understand why they didn't replace it when they had it for that problem, as it was on F when I picked it up - they couldn't 'replicate' the problem (as things always occur when you take a vehicle to the mechanic/dealer - it works PERFECTLY!).

My dealer isn't the best but they replaced it right away with no questions asked. But getting them to take a look at my map lights is like pulling teeth...go figure.
