That darn gas gauge and light?

Has anyone else have or notice this on their Titan...

My gas light comes on between 3/4 and empty which is not unusual but it's a lot closer to the 3/4 line than empty line. I'm not sure what position everyone else's comes on so the question is "how much gas is suppose to be left when the light comes on?"

It also seems that my gas gauge moves faster between the 1/2 line down to empty and slower between the full line and the half line? Is that also normal?

haven't let it get below 1/4 yet and no light for me
there have been threads discussing the light coming on with 8 to 10 gallons in the tank still

On any car I've owned, it seems like it goes slow to 1/2 and then drops to E like it was nothing. Has alot to do with the topping off and leaving fuel in the filler neck and when there is less fuel, the shifting of fuel on inclines or during acceleration makes the guage drop and sometimes be slow to return if at all

8-10, WOW that seems like a lot. I wasn't going to push it because it seems extra thirsty below the 1/2 mark.

Thanks for the info, I'll research it too.

My light comes on at about the 1/8 mark.....but I have noticed that I can get about 100 more miles after the light comes on. If I fill up as soon as the light comes on I can only put about 20 gallons in it. That means I have like 8 gallons left when the light comes on. I hate it.

I seem to be having same problem. My light came on just after the gauge dropped below 3/4.

I fill it before 1/2 so...I haven't seen the light yet. My brain works in such a way that it thinks gas is cheaper if I fill it when it gets down to 3/4 full....lol

That's the way my gauge worked when the truck was new, also the gauge would drop like a rock from full to 3/4 tank. I'd fill up, and get only 5 miles away from the gas station and the gauge would start dropping...

Gauge later failed, had the sender replaced, and the gauge has slowed down, and "only" about 6-7 gals left when the light comes on...

My guage seems accurate at 1/2 with 150 miles give or take, and the light comes on at about 250. I drive it to 300 miles and usually fill up. My current MPG is around 12.4.

I had my fuel sender replaced at only 3500 miles because of this proble, Lite should come on at about 1/8th tank, not sooner. About 4 gallons should remain when lite comes on.

Yea, I have had the happen many times. The light will come on at 1/8 tank then I'll park it when I get to work or something, then get back in 6-8 hours later and my guage jumps up to just above 1/4 and no light.

I usually fill it right after the light comes on (300 +/- miles or so) and it takes about 22.xx gals to fill it. The most I'v gone before the light comes on is 320 miles.

The same thing happens in my truck. Today is the first day I let the light go on b/c I wanted to see how many miles I could get out of the tank. The light went on at about 1/8 of a tank. I stopped at a friends house for about 30 minutes and ten started my truck back up. No light this time but the needle was in the same spot. I drove about 3 miles to a gas station still w/o the light on. I ended up putting 23 gallons in at 317 miles.

I've only had my truck for 2 weeks but I've filled it twice just after the light came on and it took about 22-23 gallons both times so it looks like 5-6 left when my light comes on.
