Paint doesn't match

I just barely clipped a yellow pole leaving my Drs. Office. Gave me a 6" yellow stripe and a very slight dent right in front of the rear tire.
I carried it to a very reputable repair shop to be repaired. $500 was the estimate. To ensure a good paint match he said they would paint the entire passenger side of the bed.
Got it back and bondo job is great--no evidence whatsoever of the little crease is left--HOWEVER the entire passenger bed is not the same white as the rest of the passenger side. It appears to have a very slight yellow tint to the white (04 white)
I carried it back friday and the guy said that is normal for white colors, that actually it comes from the clear coat shifting the color towards the yellow spectrum and it will look much better in a couple of months.

Anyone heard of this? Is this BS?
Thanks for all replies.

Yeah, it's BS. Have it redone. Better yet, stay off the yellow poles.
Did he use the color code on the drivers door jamb?

AHHHHH the old give it a couple of months trick hu! Here is what he was really saying in his head. Give it a couple of months so you forget that it looks different and you get used to the look and get to busy to bring it back. Take it to another body shop and have them tell you if it is done right. Then cancel your check.

Yeah that's BS, I have white car painted before and there was no yellow tint. BTW, was it an eye doctor's office you just left? If it is I would ask for my exam money back.

I backed my truck into the support column for my carport, dented/scraped up the right rear quarter panel - $1100 to repair ($120 for parts - taillight). Most of your cost to repair something like that is the labor involved. Did they tell you they were putting bondo on it? Why for? I can't see a scrape/dent in the quart causing them to put bondo on it. I would assume they probably only popped out the dent and painted it if it was only a small dent, but who knows. I wouldn't have let them personally put bondo on my truck. I bought a used civic years ago that had a crappy body repair job done and the bondo/paint work on the rear quarter panel showed quite well.

Thanks for the response guys.
I don't know that they used Bondo--just assumed that they did.
He said they used the paint code on the door and mixed it themselves using PPG equipment and paint.
I will go elsewhere and get it repainted even though it is only slightly off --I can't have my baby looking like that.

I am very familier with the collision industry. First of all many colors including white have color variences. Most collision facilities have color varience chips for most colors so they can mix the right formula for the color. They also blend most panels to get the illusion of a color match. A good painter will paint a test panel or let-down panel for proper match. To make a long story short, the shop didn't tint your paint for a blend or the air pressure was not correct which could make the paint darker(not enough pressure) or too light(too much pressure). In reference to bondo, that is the industry standard on most repairs. The old days of metal finishing are far gone due to the lack of thickness of the metal.
