Last week I was in an accident with my Infinit QX4 SUV and the insurance company saw fit to total it out. Considering I can't be without wheels, I began an intensive search for my next ride in hopes of it lasting at least 5-8 years.
My last car before the QX4 (which I only owned a year ) was a 91' Honda Accord with 246,000 miles on it so I like to keep my vehicles for quite some time.
I knew I wanted a truck during this time around. My wish list looked as follows...
1. Titan
2. F150
3. Tundra
4. Ram
5. Silverado
I was literally twenty minutes from signing papers on a new 2005 Lariat when the salesman from Nissan called me up. He promised he would match the price and said come over and pick any LE on the lot you wish. I opted for the Galaxy black with the Big Tow and Entertainment Package. I have been in bliss for a week until I ran across this site.
This site is great for vehicle awareness regarding ongoing problems/recalls/modifications but it sure hasn't helped alleviate any possible 'buyers remorse' feelings. This site has tought me a few tricks with the electric brakes and given me plenty of info regarding Greg's leveling kit which I plan to add.
The problem is, maybe I've read to many posts regarding problems and customer dissatisfaction. (working 3rd shifts alone at night provides the time)
Obviously everyone has problems with brakes. It also seems the rear ends, window motors, and various rattles are the other reoccuring problems. Now I do realize that these problems are probably being felt by the minority of owners but I certainly am not sleeping any easier after reading all these problems.
My question is this...........Who is still 100% happy with the choice they made to buy the Titan over the remaining competition? I know Titan doesn't have the track record like the Big 3 do, but since I like foreign vehicles, I toke a chance. I'm hoping I can get 200,000 miles on this vehicle if I take care of it. Does anyone see this being a problem?
I guess I just need to hear that the other truck manufacturers experience similar problems like us Titan owners do but in the end, we still own the best truck !!
So who's honestly still happy overall with their decision to buy a Titan????
All truck manufacturers have problems... of your list the Tundra would probably be the most worry free and have the best chance of easily hitting your miliage goal. Not trying to take away from the Titan but it's a bit of an unknown. With that being said, put your fears away. These are great trucks. I just turned 10K on mine and have had no problems of any magnitude. I had my heater fan motor replaced because it whistled and the new one does pretty much the same thing (my dealership is anxious to milk Nissan I think)... I took my truck in to get the rotors turned (in order to start the ball rolling on getting the real fix) and they gave me the real fix my first time. I do have a funny tranny shudder that occurs about one out of every 20 shifts from 3 - 2, but I can't seem to replicate it for the dealer. It occurs when shifting manually only... most people let the truck do it so who knows, maybe they all do it.... anyhow, this is a great truck. Keep in mind that people who have problems are much much much more likely to post them here to get info to take to the dealer.... I know I don't come home everyday and post that all went well, but you can bet the minute something starts rattling I would have a post about it. I think the value of these trucks is better than any others on your list. I was looking seriously at a Lariat as well and my Titan LE was about 3500 less and with much better financing. These trucks are the talk of the industry currently. I think even if you want to sell sometime you won't have lost much money.
I have almost 30K on my truck and it has never had any problems and it's never been in the shop. We are a two car family, so if we plan on going on any trips etc, we leave the truck at home. I use my truck for what it is.....a truck.
If you have never owned a truck and don't need a truck. But are just buying a truck for the macho thing and you are used to the ride of the Infiniti........ I don't think you will be happy. I've seen it over and over again on this forum, people trading in the family car, Suv, etc. And a few months down the road decide "WTF was I thinkin," I don't need a truck. They then start slaming the Titan and turn around and trade it in for a sports car.
I don't know your situation, and don't know the reasons you are considering the purchase of a truck, but just remember, if you do buy a Titan, Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota or whatever that it is a truck and is not going to ride, handle, or perform like a sports car or a luxury SUV.
Good luck in your decision.
By the way, to anwser your original question, I am 100% satisfied with my truck, I have owned every make of truck out there, I am not brand loyal. I do my research, read and ask questions. I then go out and test drive every truck I can and then buy what i think is the best truck for my money.

I have some experience in the automotive field. A few decades anyway.
I chose my Titan very carefully based on quite a bit of research, including looking at service records and problems many people don't have access to.
The brake issue is a minor one and is being handled by Nissan in stellar fashion. The rear end problem is rapidly becoming a non-issue. Rattles? Every vehicle has rattles and my Titan has fewer than any truck I have ever owned.
I am happy with my truck..... and I am so picky about mechanical stuff it scares some people.
I put 250K on my last Chev truck and it's still rolling every day with my son driving it. I expect to get far more out of My Titan.
You made a good choice!
You read bad stuff here because bad stuff is fun to talk about and there are people here to talk with about it . Put it in perspective. Nissan is selling about *8000* Titans a MONTH. How many problems do they REALLY have?

I've had mine for a year now, and am still 100% happy. And mine's an '04, a first year run vehicle. The only problems I had were a dash squeak and the brake isue. Both were quickly and professionally addressed by my local Nissan dealer and I couldn't be happier.
I've owned 2 Chevy Silverados ('93 & '94) and both had over 120K miles when I got rid of them.
Alot of the problems seemed to be isolated, and like carteach said, people just like to vent to other truck people here, so it seems like there is alot because all the complaints are in one place. In reality I think everybody here is happy with their Titan.
Congrats on your new Titan and welcome!

I have been totally 100% impressed with the Titan, It sure beats the hell out of the 96 chevy i had before it. new motor at 45k, new trans 50k and computer. Plus not everyone and thier brother has one, unlike the ford's

1 year, 22,500 miles..... and not everyone has had problems with brakes or rear ends. I've had a few minor rattles and the "Darth Vader" A/C hiss, which is almost unnoticeable. Love the truck and wouldn't do anything differently!

Every new machine on the market is going to have issues. By the time the 2006 models start rolling, the issues with the truck now will be a thing of the past. Use the stuff you read here as 'for informational purposes only' and do some homework when you get a spare moment to check out your truck.
The only issue that I had was the AC thing in the cab and the brakes. Do I have rattles? Yeah, but every machine that I have been in regardless of cost has some rattle that I eventually locate and fix.
I am 100% happy with mine. It's so much fun that I wound-up being one of the first people to modify it for power and haven't had a single drivetrain issue despite the use of about 80 dragstrip runs on nitrous oxide and another 60 or so runs on just the normal powertrain.
My brother has a F150, a friend has a 1500 dodge, my bro-in-law has a F150, my dad has a 3500 dodge dually, two guys at work have Silverados, and my best friend has a 3500 dodge as well. I've ridden in them all and each have strengths and weaknesses. I would make the same choice again without hesitation. Compared to every single truck I have owned (back to 1994 when I got my first truck), this is the first one I have dumped any money into to take it a notch above stock. Not because it needed anything (it was the best yet) but because it performed so well, I had to add more to it. I had entertained the idea of a corvette as a play car a little while back and decided not to do that. This truck provides enough grin factor for me that I just don't need a car as I also have a couple of bikes to ride on occassion.
I've had a couple of minor issues with mine, but nothing like what you'll read about. There is no news like bad news; people who have no problems don't complain. I've also been on several F150 sites and there are issues with those trucks as well so don't think that Nissans are problem laden vehicles and Fords are indestructable. The sales from the last quarter and the last year are showing what's happening. Ford sales are declining, Nissan's are up - this a a fact in the truck area.
The squeaks and rattles I've had on mine only cost $1.50 for some spongy tape at Wal-Mart to fix. If you can make a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge improve on any of their faults (transmissions, power, etc.) for $1.50 then I'm the Pope. Your Nissan will last you a long time. Yes, there are the very few exceptions from any make, but in general you won't see as many here. I don't know if it's production line probelms or a batch of bad parts but it sure seems like the problems people have are when the trucks are new or low mileage (under 10,000) and then that's it. I have about 20,000 miles on mine and when I run it hard - it's nose to the pavement hard. My truck just looks back and smiles and asks for more.
So don't sweat reading about problems that might occur. Just enjoy the drive like the vast, vast majority of us do and sit back on the fact that you have a truck that will indeed last you a long time.
If you have time to read, look up some of the crash stories - a couple of members here have survived some very bad crashes. That ought to make you feel better.

this truck is the best truck I have owned or driven...
and its on par with my best vehicles...Lexus LS400 and Acura Legend, but with the utility of a truck.
I researched all the trucks. But none approached the design, functionality, and exquisite little touches of my Titan LE CC. My wife and kids sat in the back of the Honda, the Tundra and none felt as good as the Titan...
Nissan has been responding well to the various problems that come up for some. Research even the Tundra and you'll find alot of angry people that couldn't get their brakes fixed by Toyota. Especially look at the California consumer complaint web site, I saw no titans, but plenty of Tundras...
for a brand new make of truck, I am very impressed. The engine and drivetrain alone are pretty awesome all by themselves...
Owned since December 2003 still in love with this truck. If I had to do it all over again, I still would, in a heartbeat. No problems requiring a visit to the dealer for a mechanical issue, ever.
Quit worrying and enjoy your ride, you've earned it!

I am still happy. Only one small issue with driver's window, that was mice nuts. For further reassurance, check out the other trucks sites. It seems they all have their own issues, recalls, etc.
i have purchased 2 Titans so far and would highly recommend to anyone looking a truck. my 1st was a 04 KC SE,w/big tow,4x4,and utili-trac,it had its problems, but Nissan handled it the way they should. i originally wanted the CC LE, so i traded for it
3 wks ago. there is 3500 miles on my new truck and it is awesome, the only problem is moisture in the pass. headlamp, other than that it is flawless.
If you take a look at vehicles before the Titan, its a thread on this sight, you will see a long list of vehicles I have owned. I have had my Titan for a few months now, and can say I knew what I was getting in to before I bought the truck. None of the small TSB's have scared me off. I think you will find that the VAST majority here will tell you that other than the ocasional issue (brakes being the big one) Most Titans are trouble free.
If given the choice to do it all over again today, I would not hesitate to buy another Titan.

You should be estatic you didn't buy the Ford, with that said I'm 100% happy 14 months and 20K miles and just the brake judder issue which Nissan has already addressed. You bought the best 1/2 ton pickup you possibly could have, now enjoy it, which shouldn't be that hard.
