Smoked a hemi at the strip!

finally talked my sh*t talking dad into lining our trucks up at the strip. He has an 04 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 hemi- w/ 17 in. wheels vs. my 04 Titan CC 4x4 w/ BT, off road and bed pkg's. Both trucks were totally left in road trim, spare tires, tailgates, heck I still had 2 car seats in the back. Never checked tire pressure and had 87 octane in the tank. Ran a 15.45@88.71 MPH, hemi = 16.05@86.92 . Even spotted him 4 tenths in reaction time, so I blew by at about 55 mph and continued to pull the rest of the pass. 2nd pass was against an eclipse gsx, 3rd neon srt, 4th a supercharged maxima which I had till about 60 and he went sailing by. 2 brand new grand cherokee hemi's where on site, both ran 16.2's@85 mph , so they are complete hype. Also chevy silverado's on site ran between 16.4-16.8. No fords or other Dodge's to report on. Result was a total titan AS* kicking.

Nice times. Those times for the GSX Eclipse are pretty terrible though. They are a quicker car than that. You sure it wasn't just a GS nonturbo??

HAHA....love it! If I may ask...how did you launch it? Did you stage the revs at a certain RPM while holding the brake? Did you just stop on it? Just curious if/how you had to control your wheelspin, etc. Thanks in advance!

The GSX had issue's when he ran me cause he was much faster later on, but none the less he starred at my tail gate the whole way down. It was also a 1st Gen GSX. I do however beat up on my buddies 2nd gen gst all the time with the titan 0-70, after that he can pull away.

How I launched: I would just hold the brake with the left foot, bring the rpm's to around 1500 or right where it would feel like the power would overcome the brakes, then let off brakes and hold the pedal to the firewall. It would not spin or bog, just shoot off. I still need some work as I would like to see 2.2 60' times, I did get one on the first run but every other run was 2.3-2.4 hence the slower et's. It was a very good apples to apples comparison of the hemi and titan though, as both trucks were similary equipped and both bone stock. He jumped me a whole truck length(sleepin at the light) and I was still able to pass him, and went by at a good clip. If we had the same reaction times It would have looked really bad, 6 tenths is about a bus or two. As it was spoting the 4 tenths in reaction time I still beat the dodge by over a truck length. Still trying to figure out the deal with the hemi cherokee, cause it really was a joke, I would have loved to line up with one of those clams.

Crying out Loud. Find out who was driving that SRT-4 so I can slap him silly. That is embarrassing.
Nice runs in the Titan though. Pretty damn fast for a big *** truck. I guess Titans rule the truck world.

Nice kill, but all quad cab hemis arent running 16's, most run mid 15's if they can drive right. and most single cabs like mine run mid 14's.

Reaction Time Advice

Just word of advice on the line, launch when you see the last yellow turn on right before the green. I believe that they're 3 yellows on the line and take off when you see the third yellow go off. Your reaction time will equal the green light going off. Good Luck and smoke his a$$ again.

His dads time is about on par with what most mags have gotten out of crew cabs in stock form. Some are a little better but i think its safe to say the titan will get them most of the time.
