I thought it was tar...?!

I picked up my 2005 Titan last monday and on the way home had to drive through some new road resurfacing...I had what I thought was tar on the drivers side when I got home and promptly just washed the truck.....problem solved.
Two days later after mostly city old street driving I noticed I had crap splattered from just below the drivers door up the door AGAIN! hmmmmm son-of-a-gun.....washed it again.....
Now for the last few days I have noticed it just keeps coming back....wipes off REAL easy so I start to think maybe it isnt tar.... Just did the smear and smell test 5 minutes ago and if it aint GREASE! I looke under the truck and there isnt any thing obvious leeking...nor can I even see if a cv joint or ball joint were oozing how it could even get to the side of the truck...but it is definately grease.....

So my question is.....has anyone else noticed a recouring problem? Also grease? What are the odds of me picking it up consitently in the same spots of the truck on all different roads and routes? I am perplexed????

I would blame the tire dressing that the dealer/you are using. Also note that paint stains caused by tire dressing (the dealer's or yours) are not covered by Nissan.

Nope! definately grease. If it were tire dressing I would have it on all panels including the back....

That is another thing that perplexes me....if I were continually running through something on the drivers side I would explect to have some splatter behind the rear wheel as well and there hasn't been any...

I will just keep watching it.....I have a Silver truck so it sticks out like a sore thumb!

I aint pulling S**T off........that's why we have dealers and warranties. I just thought maybe some others maybe noticed the same thing. If it is coming from the front end then it must be first transfering to the inside of the wheel and then to the truck when a turn is made....it is the only possible way that something from the driveline is going to make it to the side. I will watch the inside of the wheel and see if that is the culprit.

The same thing happened to my infiniti i30t a while back. The dealer never figured it out, every couple of weeks it would be back.

Rather than grease, could it be oil, or is it too thick?

Used motor oil makes an excellent tire dressing. I've had several detailers tell me that - and they use it! (Perhaps the dealers detailer use it!) Anyway, I'd wash the crap out of the wheels & tires (simple green!) and see what happens...

PEOPLE....

I know what Tar, Oil and Grease look like, feel like smell like and taste like....

This is definately grease...... From the looks of it and some more investigation it appears as though I have some grease on the inside of my rim and when I turn left it flings out and runs up the side of my truck...

What I need to find out now is where it is coming from.....my best guess would be the outer CV joint boot...

Thanks for the ideas........
