Arrow It's begun, Rear-end whine...

Well my truck has 7k miles on it and the rear-end is starting to whine.

Service history performed by me:
500 miles- I checked the fluid level and it was low, topped it up.

3000 miles- Replaced fluid with fresh 80W90

6000 miles- Very slight whine detected.

6500 miles- Replaced diff cover with aftermarket aluminum high capacity cover and put in 70w140 synth fluid.

The noise is still here and getting louder (at 7000 miles now). The question:
Will having the aftermarket cover "void" my warranty on the rear-end? I saved the old cover but it would be a hassel to exchange them.

The noise can just be heard over the exhaust drone.

Thanks,
Loran

In theory, the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act should preclude denial of a warranty claim unless they can show that the failure was caused by your aftermarket cover. In practice, they might try to jerk you around.

Yea that is what I am expecting. I just don't want it to blow-out on me while double-towing to the river.
