Design Your '06 Titan

If you could decide what improvements to put on the '06 Titan, what would they be? Remember, this is for an improved model, not a redesign.

Off the top of my head, I would add MP3 capability, dual automatic temperature control, improved fuel economy, somehow obtain a smaller turning radius, and the ability for the passenger to program the NAV while the driver is driving down the road. I am sure there are other things I have thought of while driving, but that is what I can think of right now. You?

How about dual zone temp controls, possible upgraded optional leather packages, and wider variety of wheels/accesories? The Nissan brush guard looks okay, but no place to mount winch....dealerships should have more options available to them, instead of having to wait for aftermarket company to create everything for them. Look at Harley Davidson and all the chrome you can add, for example...

Not too many but....with all the TT towing we do, turn signals on the side mirrors would be a good start. Our TT is 28' long so if there's someone along side me, they can't see that I'm signaling until they can see the back of the truck....which could be a hazzard.
A Crew Cab longbed option, Sunroof option on all models, real LSD rear end. A rear diff. temp guage would be nice.

For '06, the Titan could sure use a more stout, BIGGER REAR END!! Beefed up diff, gears, and axle tubes.

The setup is pretty light duty and simply putting an aluminum cover with fins on it (new for '05) and putting in syrup 140w instead of normal 90w oil only constitutes a BandAid in my opinion.

Larger diamater front Rotors. Disregarding the warping that has somewhat been adressed by Nissan, the Titan could use a shorter stopping distance, especially when loaded. There have been a few times where I was pretty sure that I was going to eat someones bumper under fairly normal stopping conditions.

I could also do with fewer squeaks and rattles. The rear leafs' bushings or something keep creaking and lubing them just aleviates the noise for a day or two.

More Horse Power would be nice :-) and less of this 'shutting down' on the throttle when you punch it off the line (probably computer reprogramming will fix this as the aftermarket catches up). Atleast being able to turn this off and return control to the driver would be nice.

The only improvements on the '06 models most likely will be slightly improved brakes/rotors and an improved exhaust system worth 10hp.

I'd like to see variable valve-timing and some form of displacement on demand for the VK56DE. Toyota got close to 45hp on their I-force 4.7L with VVT-I so that would get the Titan close to 350hp. Of course, the Titan is factory underated so 375-380hp would be the "real" figure. Variable displacement is supposed to come on all 5.7L Ram Hemi's for '06. I'd like to see that technology used on the Titan as well.

Here's some small things I'd like to see added to the Titan.....

A 20" factory wheel option.
Adjustable sliding benchseat center section.
Tighter clamp on the radiator coolant return hose.
A/C drain tube that seals against the evap nipple.
Flip out rear side-windows on KC models.
Provision to shut off flow on pass-side AC vents.
Integrated windshield radio antenna.
Underhood light.
Concealed tailgate lock.

I'll go for the Armada redesign.

Change the roofline to straghtenout like the Pathfinders.
Pad the armrest on the center console like the QX 56.
Increase the space in the tire wells to allow larger tires without rubbing.
HIDs
Diesel would be nice
TV Tuner for the DVD
mini fridge in the center console in the second row of seats.
DVD access through the rear of the center console, not inside the console.
Extra roof rack rib.
Fender flares.
Optional Nismo Supercharger

Maybe some improvements to the utilitrac system. It is hard to take advantage of all those optional bed enhancers if they are all in each others way. It would be nice if the bed divider and or tool box ttached to and moved along the floor instead of side rails. Maybe the carrying racks would be stronger and less restricting to other options if they rode it the side walls.

It would be nice if they made the Armada front or entire roof rack available for the Titan. The bed racks are so close to the roof (as they need to be to allow entrance into covered parking) that anything of any length carried on them has a good chance of banging into the cab roof. The bed racks can carry the weight, something just needs to protect the cab roof. Foam pads will work but they tend to depress and scratch the roof.

From the realm of 'not going to happen' I'd like it to come with Austin’s E-Lock mod. Within the realm of possible: VDC and side airbags should be available in all configs and trim levels. I'd also like the passenger to be able to run the Nav while moving. Heated seats with the bench option even on the SE would be nice. (I have a Trooper as well; in its last couple of years you could get seat heaters in cloth seats, very nice!) Obviously the brakes need some more juice and finally something from GM. Many GM's now have a factory remote start option. Just my $.02
