Question magnaflow muffler

hey all fellow titantalk members. i just recently put on a single/dual out 5x11 magnaflow muffler. i have the shotgun chrome tips out the back. i am a little dissapointed though. i seemed to have lost a little get up and go. i could more easily spin my tires before i put on the muffler. it sounds and looks good but am wondering why i would lose torque. i don't think i gained any hp as well. do i need to give my new muffler some time to break in? i know i could put a air intake system in to get me my torque back, but i have a lot of money invested in my truck already. i thought the whole reason for an aftermarket system was to get me a little more torque/hp. i would appreciate any info from you guys with aftermarket exhausts. thanks, titanrookie

I had the same experience with my Magnaflow muffler (I bought the cat-back system). I felt a real loss in low end torque and no increase in power after running it for 2 months. I think several aftermarket muffler users have found this to be true because increasing airflow can reduce the backpressure needed to produce low-end torque. Some have found that you can't realize the full potential of aftermarket muffler performance without increasing the intake performance (by adding CAI). I returned my Magnaflow and installed the Flowmaster 70. this combined with the airbox mod and Fram Airhog gave me the performance bump I was looking for as well as increasing my gas mileage by 1.5 MPG.
