major windsheild crack

Washed the truck this morning and as soon as I put the hose on the windsheild, WHAMO, I got about 2 foot crack running down the middle of the windshield. It started from the top driver side corner and ran down to about the middle. No sign of rock damage or any other cause.

Any known windshield defects? Called the dealer and they asked to bring it in, and also mentioned I was the 2nd Titan to call about the same problem today.

Mine cracked from the drivers side base of the windsheild and ran to the middle. I'm out of warranty and need to get it replaced. No sign or chips or anything either.

Sorry to hear that. I feel fortunate to have survived a Rocky Mountain winter with no rock chips. I don't use commercial car washes with hot water, but I do have an electrical heater for windshield washer fluid.

I have had 2 Titans and both of them had broken windshields. My co-worker also has a Titan and it had a broken windshield also.
Both trucks, 3 windshields, all 3 in the same exact spot!!!\
No rock chips.
I was just driving and the windshield cracked?

Mine was cracked but it was from a rock I believed. Was driving on freeway and heard a "pop" no sign of rock chip or anything, but when I came out to my truck about an hour afterward, I saw a long (about a foot and half) crack up the middle and curve to passenger side.

I took a nasty rock in the shield on my way to the airport....left a spider about 1.5" in diameter. Elite autoglass repaired it for $40....it's barely noticable now.

Is that with insurance coverage or straight up cost? That's cheap.

I once thought a crack or broken (spider) damage mark was irreversable but I was proved wrong by the employees at my local glass shop. its like new.

That's w/o insurance. Took them less than 1/2 hr. Normally, they want the repair area to be less than 1" in diameter. Mine was about 1.25 - 1.5" and they still repaired it.

New windshields installed are as cheap as $175. I had mine replaced after a rock was kicked up and cracked it.

$175?
I wish I could get that price around here. Last one was over $400, that was after a lot of pricing around. I've noticed them rising in price over the years on each vehicle.

Sounds like a defect in the windshield to me. If it is very hot outside, and I see you are in SoCal, and you spray cold water on the windshield, the rapid cooling would cause the glass to shrink and contract. That would cause the crack. However, that shouldn't happen to a windshield. It sounds to me, from my days as an engineer in glass factory, that the windshield was not properly annealed in production. You probably have a good case here if there are no impact marks on the windshield or surrounding frame.

Mine is cracked at the top of the driver's side. It is about 8 inches long now. No sign of rock or debris hitting it, so dealer is replacing it for free.
