Front suspension travel

I was changing my oil and noticed that there was only three quarter of an inch travel in the front end before bottoming out. This is on an 05 SE 2wd with 12K miles. I do not tow with and it is always used light duty. Can this be correct? How can a front end on a truck like this have so little travel? The stop that the rubber bumper hits was polished from bottoming out.

I tried a search for this problem and could not find a direct reference to it. What say you.

There is aactually about 1.5" of up travel on your 2wd, the 4x have about 2.25 stock. Keep in mind that the ratio is about 2:1 where the bumpstop hits.

You can't be looking at something right. There's is FAR more than that in travel. What exactly were you looking at?

He's looking at the space between the bump stop on the bottom arm and the frame

Prerunner,you will know this-what is the wheeltravel-front-on our Titans?What is the sag with no load,or how much of that wheeltravel to we take up just sitting there?Is it like a motorcycle with sag being about 25-30% of total wheeltravel?

When I am under my truck I am looking at the rubber bumper and the bumper stop. The total distance from one to the other is the width of my knuckle. There is probably some kind of offset on the arm that allows the wheel to travel more than three quarter of an inch but what concerened me was the condition of the stop. It was polished smooth from bottoming out and I do not drive it hard. This seems unusual to me.

There is a motion ratio between the bumper travel, and the spindle travel, so your 3/4" distance equals about 1.5" at the spindle.
Yes your bumpers are polished, that's because the Titan bottoms out on just about any dip, or driveway!

I have a 4x4 and it bottoms out every time going over a big speed bump unless I drive over it really slow. I can't see how people going off road with this set up.

I am sure there are many threads on this but, can you economicaly raise the front end and then have it re-aligned. Remember the twist in inserts that you could install in coil springs to raise the front end? You could also install rubber blocks under the springs to allow more travel. I probably should stop thinking about it and enjoy my truck.
