Thumbs up Long term C&D update

I just got my Aug 05 C&D yesterday and it had the 40,000 mile long term update. Mostly good comments from all and I was surprised that they had nothing to say about the brake issue, or the gear oil issue (and they claim alot of towing was done). They had no problems with the brakes. They spoke only about the seatbelt recall, a cracked vent louver, right front doorlock malfunction, power seat switch and radio reception. None were really complaints because they were just "annoying" problems that were taken care of under warranty.
All in all a great review. Some balked about the tow mirrors being hard to get used to, as well as an excessively noisy HVAC blower. They averaged about 14 MPG overall.
"In terms of power, payload, performance, and price, this package is very attractive."
"The Titan lacks the posh interior materials that distinguish the Ford F-150 and the quiet refinement that makes Toyota's Tundra so easy to live with. But as an all-around workhorse, ol' Buster is tough to beat."

While I like to think that these magazines doing these long term evaluations are objective, it does make you wonder. BUT, I have to say, they are reporting on their Titan's performance and shouldn't be subject to the greater issues of others.

A side article on the brake issue? ya, that might be a good thing (and good journalism), but how often do you see those...They still want to at least be in the good graces of the manufacturer to do future tests.

P.S. Just got a new water pump at 4700k, probably an anomaly since no one else has reported it...Just my truck? probably.

Did you see what they did to the hood of their titan? They claim bird strike, and the suggest it was a frozen 30lb turkey...

As for the brakes - they are in Michigan and they used it primarily up there. I wonder if the cooler weather (most of the time) had anything to do with their lack of brake issues. I wonder if there is the same sort of correlation on this board?

LOL>.yes, I saw that. Looked like they hit a damn dragon! I've met a few people with over 10k miles also with no brake problems. It seems hit or miss on the brakes.

Edmunds said something about the Big Tow Mirrors being hard to get used to also...but I love them.

Its saved me many times when changing lanes...it very hard to see this honda civic type vehicles when the speed up along side you.

Besides, I've seen a lot of Ford Super Duty trucks have the same split mirrors.

Yep, love the mirrors...Hate them in the garage, parking garages, drive thru's, but love the mirrors...

I'm starting to get used to my big tow mirrors too. I almost traded them out after less than a week of use, but decided it was a bit premature. I'm now glad I still have them!

Also, here in NY (maybe other states as well) you HAVE to have tow mirrors when towing something you can't see around like a TT. I only found this ourr recently. So if I didn't have them I could get a ticket for towing out TT unless we had the extention mirrors.

I'm at 17k with no brake problems. But I don't ever tow anything either.
