OEM Sidesteps ON - Piece of Cake
On the way home from work yesterday, I stopped in and picked up my side steps from Brian over at Nissan of Turnersville (NJ). Got a great deal on them, $326 + $10 handling via the 'club' discount (PM me if you want the scoop and the website). Brian was great and loaded them into my truck for me. After weaving and snaking my way around I finally get to the turnpike and then home. After a brief rain shower, the ground dried up and then I went to work.
These things went on perfectly. The studs to hang them from are there under the truck and the bolt holes are easily accessible by removing some palstic plugs. 15 minutes per side with a 12mm (I think) standard socket, deep socket, long extender, ratchet and torque ratchet. The brackets (3 per side) went on with a nut and a bolt and the rails on the brackets with 2 bolts @ 124 in lb of torque tightening the rails on (no torque spec given for the bolts and nuts on the brackets).
I would not hestitate to recommend these to anyone, especially for someone to do it yourself. Don't pay the dealership $40-$80 to have them put on, 1 person can do it all (they aren't heavy) and having a second just makes the job go easier (they can hand you the tools you need! [wife]).
Wife and mother in law like them already. Say its much easier to get in and out and I find it easier to get in the truck. Getting out I don't use them but found spinning in the seat and rest my feet on the rail prevents dirty pants.
Next up...fog lights!
