Was on the news yesterday. Refineries in Mexico shut down with the tropical storm hitting and now the hurricane. "Futures" went up to over $60 per barrel but the stations raised prices 10 cents immediately. And it IS gouging.

Will everyone stop saying "gouging", gouging refers to the raising of prices in one area when the demand is high, the prices are going up all of the US people open your eyes. I live in New Orleans and yes the prices went up but the prices went up all over the U.S.

Now if the Oil futures didn't go up and people around (florida, louisiana, etc) were raising the prices that would be gouging. Yall have to realize that the oil rigs in the gulf account for alot of production in the U.S. and they are SHUT DOWN (I work for an offshore company)

Will people just think before they start saying stuff they know nothing about.

Edit: i'm not refering to everyone in this thread just the people that used the word gouging

It amazes me just how spoiled you Americans are - I'm currently paying about $3.25 per US gallon (92.5 cents per litre) here in Western Manitoba - then compare this to over $6.00 per US gallon (over $2.00 per litre) that they pay in Britain - This for regular 87 octane gasoline. - Don't complain

The higher the gas price the less miles I put on my truck! Hope it will have a good resale value someday.

it is most definitely "gouging" just because its raising everywhere doesnt mean it isnt gouging.

heres an example. on monday a fuel tanker delivered fuel to a station at a certain price, say 2.19,29,39. but then on wednesday they raised it 20 cents to 2.39,49,59,for the same gas that the staion bought on wed. how can they raise it if they already paid for it 2 days earlier. its not like they pay the tankers everyday at that days price. maybe in some places a tanker fills the station everyday, but around here its like once a week.

that is gouging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in that case.............if you own a store.......and you have cokes for 89 cent a 2 liter and a new shipment came in and you had to pay 1.09 for them would you sell the first shipment at 89 cent still?

I think not.......thank you come again
