Truck Thunks When Accelerating From Stop?

I have an 2005 LE CC 4X4 Off Road and it makes a thunk whenever you accelerate from a stop. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

Occasionally, I get the same thing. I think it's the roller that is under (or is it on top?) of the leaf springs in the back. I just had mine in 2 days ago for the brake replacement and I noted for them to resolve this issue as well....lo and behold, they couldn't find anything. Go figure.

Can you isolate where the thunk is coming from? Front/back, left/right? If it's in the back, some people with the utili-traks had reported that the rubber covers slide along the rails and make more noise than you would expect when stopping/accelerating.

If it's from the front, around transmission area, check the bolts. Mine were loose and a few others have been also.

If you have the Utility bed pkg. it is probably the channel covers sliding back and forth as you accelerate, and brake.

carteach had a similar problem and it was on the rear leaf springs. He replaced the little roller back there with skate board wheels and and is well.

Here's the link: Thunk be gone
