New rotors & pads experience

I finally took my 2004 Titan in yesterday for the third time in 20K miles for the front brake shimmy/jiggle/wiggle/shudder/judder. The dealer informed me that he had the new parts (bigger rotors, thicker pads) on hand and would replace them same day. Cool, I wasn't expecting that. From what I have heard, I thought they would order them and I would bring it back later (much later) for the install. When I went to pick it up, not only had they put bigger rotors and thicker pads on the front as promised, they also turned the rotors on the rear and put new pads on the rear as well, all under warranty of course! Cool! I did not even complain about the rear. Everybody with the problem complains about it but think of it this way - Buy a new Titan from Nissan and they'll make sure you always have new brakes for the first (in my case) 20k miles! Can't beat that deal. Now if I could only get them to buy me new tires under warranty...

Not only am I getting the new brakes, but my dealer has a 'tires for life' program. Cost me $50 at purchase and I never have to buy a tire for the Titan again.....

All the above happened to me Thursday, after sitting at the dealer for 3 hours....I tried to compare the rotors to see the difference, but got the run-around, the tech says the new rotors are about 5mm thicker.
This is the second time I've had the brakes done, both times they did the rears also, does anybody know how well the rear pads are wearing?
Have 11k on my truck.

Yeah, but what if you put only 6K miles a year on your truck? By the time I get the brake "judder" the third time, I'll be out of the warranty period. I wonder if there's a way to significantly accelerate the rotor/brake pad wear without feeling like you're ruining the truck? This third time bullcrap is ridiculous. They should have enough brake parts by now to do it the first time you get the brake judder.

I wonder why they have to turn the rear rotors? Hopefully, it's just a very light cut. For me, when you turn the rotors, you're left with less rotor life when you cut into the rotor disc material.

I did the same thing about 2 weeks ago. They put bigger rotors and thicker pads up front and turned the rotors on the rear and put new pads. It took them 3 hours to install everything. Did not have to wait days or weeks for the new kit to come in, it was already there

I just had the same thing done today. Front rotor part number 40206-ZC01A, plus pads front and rear, and turned rears. Is this the "permanant" fix? The service rep told me Nissan will be warrantying Titan brakes for 3 years regardless of mileage due to the brake problems and slow parts supply line.

I think I got your wish! My dealer (as part of the Titan purchase) gives a 'tires for life' program. I paid a $50 fee when I purchased the Titan and I never have to buy a tire. The dealer will take care of it. Knowing my dealer, they will do a good job for me on this. They have been very responsive and never blink an eye when something needs to get done.... they just do it.

theres always a catch...

BTW- at United Nissan in Las Vegas I took my truck in once at 5500 miles for brake judder and they fixed it. Then, before the judder could come back a second time they gave me the permanent fix (this past Thursday.) I was very shocked because they called me and asked me when I could bring the truck in for the fix. They are way better than Desert Nissan.

The local dealer has been doing this for years. They own a Honda, Nissan, Acura, Cadillac, Toyota, Saturn, Mazda and some other dealerships (one family name).

It was a gimmick they came up with years ago and charge the purchaser a $50 one time fee. (I guess they buy insurance with it). Short of an accident or tire stabbing, it covers everything else.

I think its a great 'perk'.
