Hi, very first post. Question about brakes

im in the market for a full size truck. the brake problems i have been hearing about on the titan scares me a bit. i understand there is a permanent fix for the warping rotors. my question is this. are the titans on the lots now equipped with the updated brakes? or will they begin on the 2006 models? is there a vin number where the new brakes start? i just dont want to buy a new truck knowing i have to return to service for a known problem. thanks. and i tried the "search" function but did not find any answers.

I bought my truck knowing the existing problem and that its being addressed by nissan , I would much rather know about it and thats it's gonna be fixed than the surprises that you might find on another truck, and its not a problem that everyone has had , yes alot of them have but not all. Drive the truck and then decide

That's the kiss of death. If you test drive it, you're done... Might as well get the checkbook ready.

The judder is felt in the brake petal and steering wheel, at least it was for me (20,000+ miles). Nothing major but I could feel the pulsation. Some have had it worse than others. It's similar to the other problems with brakes that other trucks have. I just had it adressed recently by the the dealer. They measure how off the rotors are and address the fix from there. The dealer chose to have the front rotors turned and new pads installed, based on the numbers they measured. It's not the entire fix from the TSB but it's been much better so far.

The 2006 models have not be anounced yet, at least from what I have heard. The word is, the "fix" was started with the mid/late 2005s. Sorry, no serial numbers...

I'm sure others will add as needed.

The way I understand it is that if you have a Titan born in May 2005, you probably will have the issue. If you have a Titan born in late May 2005 or later, you probably will not have the issue due to the fix being implemented at the factory.

Mine was born in May 2005. I love the truck. If I experience the judder, I will get free brake pads and rotors and it will extend the time that I have to pay for replacements. So, it is worth it to me to have the truck without waiting, and the hidden benefit of delayed paying for brake pads is pretty good in my book.

I have been trying to keep up with these threads on brake problems. My 2005 XE was built in November of 04 and I bought it new on June 15, 05. Not sure why it stayed on the lot for so long. I have not had any problems with it and it runs great. Just got back from a 750 mile trip and averaged over 18mpg. ( A mixture of Interstate and rural roads and towns) I have 2200 miles on it now, so guess from what seem to be the rule, my brake problems are on it's way.
