Service engine soon light

It came on a few days ago right after I filled up with gas. I check the manual and it says it will come on if the sensors detect emissions problems, or if the gas cap is not tightened fully. I check the cap because i just filled up and it was tight. I opened the cap and replaced it tightly untill it clicked several times. The manual states that once this is done the light should turn off after a "few driving trips". Well, Ive driven home from work (63 miles) and did several errands (3 to 4 trips at @ 5 miles each) and drove back into work today and the light is still on. Im not getting any stalls or loss of power/ acceleration, and its running great as always.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why the light is still on? Has anyone else had this problem before? Should I take it in to the dealers service dept?

You can read the code yourself:

Read and Reset the Service Engine Soon (SES) light

We have had issues with the cap thing.
Lately we had work done that required the bed to be removed. They forgot the disconnect the stuff to the 'evaporator box' (charcoal canister). It broke the connection. The same light comes on for that as does the cap.
Not that I think that there is anything broken on your rig but it may be that your box is not re-circulating the fumes to be burned off.
Take the truck to Autozone or Pep Boys and have the check your codes. It's free. They can also reset your code.

I had the same thing when I first got my titan. I figured out it was the gas cap since I just filled up. So I took the cap off & re-installed and drive for awhile with no luck. Finally I went and re-filled the gas tank and made sure cap clicked several times when putting it back on and it finally went out. I never had a problem again. Eddie

I had the same prob, then it turned out to be a bad throtle body. If you notice any accelerations probs bring it in. The Service Manager told me that the gas thing should reset after a couple trips. You stated that so I'm not sure what the prob may be
