pathetic Chevy/GM truck ads

I was watching the All Star Game on Tuesday night and there were several GM commercials during the game. One was for Chevy trucks and they said "There is no word in Japanese for pickup truck" What? Is this the best they could do? The Titan is so much better in every respect that the best they could come up with is "there's no word in Japanese for pickup truck?" Sad...

Another commercial was talking about the Chevy/GMC 1500 and they said "higher towing capacity than Dodge or Ford." Umm, that's great -- what about your towing capacity compared to the Titan? Did you forget to mention that one?!?!

These guys are desperate for sales and the Titan isn't helping their cause one bit...

Todd

The last time I checked, "pickup truck" was TWO words. So I guess there is no word in English for pickup truck either!

I drive one of both. Here is a picture I took today. I gotta admit guys. The interior of my Z71 is much more plush than the wifes Titan.

My buddy has an extended cab GMC, and I have to admit I really like that truck. Enough that I orignally looked at a crew cab Silverado. Its very comfortable, and it's been totally reliable. Dash is a bit cluttered, and if you get on it, you'll notice its not as fast as the Titan, but that's pretty transparent in day-to-day driving.
He paid way too much for it though. Almost $39,000. I liked the Titan from the time I saw it, but Chevy's artificially inflated MSRP was what turned me off to them and seriously looking at the Titan.

I drove the Chevy too, and I liked it-until I drove the Titan. THen it fell to third!!
The Chevy's are nice, but in comparison to what-they're slow, old styling, and the seats aren't that comfortable, unless you get leather, then expect to pay ALOT!

I saw a chevy commercial just this morning, not sure if it was the same that you have seen. Some truck in the commercial had a sticker that says something about 'its not a japanese truck' or something to that effect. Its like, Ha my truck is faster and more reliable and will probably last longer than yours. Just thought it was funny.

Todd
Here are June's sales numbers. While the Titan is by far my favorite truck, and I am safe to say--eveyone else's on this site, the numbers tell a different story. GM / Chevy have sold over half a million trucks this year--the Titan is at 44k....not even 10% of what GM sells, and that doesn't include Colorado.

My point is that Titan sale's numbers, while they do affect some GM sales, they are really a fart in the wind in comparison.

if i ever buy an "american" truck...it would be a Ford F350...diesel, the problem with that is that i could buy two titans for the price of one ford... you just never know when you may need all that torque for draggin someones house off its foundation.
chevy offers little that appeals to my taste in style, comfort, and much loved ground clearance.

But of those sales, how many are fleet sales or company leases?

If Chevy (GM) is mentioning 'foreign' in their ads, then they're worried, maybe only a little, but they're worried...

Wow, you and I have very different tastes. The chevy rates the absolute bottom of my list for interior. The 2nd main reason I choose the titan was because I really love its interior. The only interior that you can compare it to is the ford, only because its a carbon copy.

Oh there's no doubt that the Chevy/GMC trucks outsell Nissan by a huge margin. McDonalds sells a lot more beef than Ruth's Chris Steakhouse too ;-). Just the other day I was coming home from Alexandria, LA and the trip from there to home is a trek through central and north Louisiana through mostly rural areas. I began to count how many of the vehicles that I passed were Chevy/GMC trucks, Tahoes/Yukons, or Suburbans. Honest to God, it was around 60-70% -- of ALL vehicles that were on the road. It's amazing but around here they are just everywhere. All the more reason for me to have bought a Nissan :-)

I second this. Look at all the major companies and city's alot use Chevy vans and trucks. I work for a aerospace company and out fleet is all chevy and I think were around 120 vehicles. Of course we are just one company but I do see the trend..

I won't argue that the interior of the Chevy's is nice. However, I bought my truck to offroad, haul stuff, tow things, etc..

Hey guys - I paid 27K for the 1500 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab. A great deal for a truck normally priced 35K. Employee pricing... I feel more power off of the Titan pedal and still like the throaty muffler of the Titan. I might need a flowmaster to match the stock Titan noise.

Hey brother - Dont get me wrong - I still love the Titan truck! I went out and test drove all the 05's before making my decision. Of course I did'nt test drive a Titan as we already have the 04. The first thing I noticed about the Z71 interior was the plush environment. We have fold down arms rests. Also there is much more overall storage. I still am confused as to why they put in a CD/tape deck. Who the heck uses audio cassettes? The Bose sound system is really great too.

Overall I like both of the trucks and rank them each as number 1 and number 2. My test drive on the Ford had me thinking I was driving a girls truck. The column shifter is really very small. I like that feature on the Titan and the Z71. When you goto shift you know that your grabbin onto the column shifter. When you goto shift the Ford it feels like your grabbin the windshield wiper deal instead.
