has anyone installed an aftermarket hitch reciever on there titan? I need to get one to pull a camper and a small utility trailer around in but the dealer price seems real high.

Go to Uhaul.

My friend just bought a hitch for his titan, it was $99 and it fits way nicer than the stock one. Tucks up very nice nad generally looks alot better than my factory one. Ill call hime and get the info where he bought it.
I need to get one soon and I don't know which items to get except for the hitch itself.

I picked up a pricy Quick Draw about a year ago. It really makes the truck look BADASS though. I mean if your gonna put a hitch on the rig that TOWS...get the cool big time hitch. The chrome is what I picked. Goto their website and check it out.
What sold me was the fact that it has up to 10,000 lbs. GTW - This of course is in direct alignment with what the truck can pull. Also the fact that it stores up under the vehicle so you dont knock your knee or shin into it is cool. Height adjustment is very cool for those that plan on raising up the vehicle or having multiple sets of tires. Some have towing tires and some have off-road tires... so you dont have to worry about buying another hitch based on the height.
I have to agree with the fella who said goto Uhaul. If your wanting to save cash and just want the job done. Uhaul is probably the cheapest way to go. My suggestion is pricy...
I know you have a Titan - but the Truth about Trucks propaganda that Ford has is actually somewhat entertaining. There is a section there under Frame that talks about the hitch system.
heres a question, What would happen if i towed 6-7,000lbs and dont have the bigtow package. My dads friend has an '01 f-150 and i know my engine is bigger than his and he is rated at 9500 with his big tow package.
Big Tow Package increases towing capacity to the maximum 9,500 lbs. on the King Cab (9,400 lbs on the Crew Cab). Lower final gear ratio (3.36). Heavy-duty battery. Extendable tow mirrors (with a wide-angle mirror). Automatic transmission temperature gauge. Class IV receiver hitch. Extra 7-pin wiring harness. Trailer brake controller pre-wiring under the dash.
Also my 04 Titan has the VDC to prevent tire slippage and oversteering.

HAHAHA, it's like they're just trying to ignore the Titan. (And I definitely saw one in there.)
There is some comparisons - they poke fun at the frame. Rick Titus seems to be overpassionate about Ford trucks. They must have paid him a bazillion dollars to get that excited. The Ford F-150 does not raise an eyebrow for me. I thought they screwed it up in the mid-nineties with the round body style and I think the new style is a half-hearted attempt to reverse engineer a miniture Super Duty. Honestly I compare the Titan more to the 250 than I do the 150.
so really, i can tow 9,500lbs but i just wouldn't have as much power as if i had the big tow package.
No, you're limited to 6500 LBS (XE) 7400 LBS (SE) and 7200 LBS (LE) if you're not equipped with the BT package. But the only real difference I can see is the lower gear ratio and the fact that the BT packages' hitch is actually welded through the frame. So those figues seem a bit on the low side to me.

I just got a class IV at uhaul for 210 installed (149 for the hitch+ ball, 25 wiring harness, 30 to install and wire). The stealership wanted 175 parts and 150 install for a class III. The I could not tell a difference between the Uhaul and the factory units other than the stickers. They were a really good deal IMHO.
