Nightmare with service dept yesterday
OK, where to start, maybe with the problem I am having. When I am driving highway going about 60 and above, I get a strange clicking noise coming from under the DRIVER side dash. It just clicks at random times, bumps, no bumps, cruise on/off, etc. Basically there is no rhyme or reason.
The truck isn't two months old and it's been doing it for about a month now. So I finally have time to take it in this week. I call the dealership service dept on Wednesday asking if I could make an appointment, he said that basically it was a first come first serve basis, and I ask him if I could bring it in on Saturday and he said that it would be fine, didn't ask what the problem was and I didn't tell him what it was either.
The dealership is about a 45 min to and hour drive, so I get up early to be there right about the time they open at 7:00AM. I get there and am greeted by this guy and he asks what the problem is and I tell him and also tell him that I would be more than happy to drive with someone so they could hear it. He then asks if there would be anyway I could bring it back in during the week since they are a little shorthanded on Saturday, I explain that in order to do that I would have to take off of work during the week to be there and that he could have it all day since my wife was coming to get me and we were going to go shopping. He said that sounded great because he didn't want to short change me in diagnosing the problem.
About an hour later they come back and say they have stopped the noise in the cab. Get this, they said it was my wheel lock moving around in my glove box!!! My blood started to boil!! I told the guy that the noise was coming from my DRIVER side NOT the glove box. He was fairly rude and said that he didn't drive it and there is no noise in the cab anymore. He then tells me that I need to move my cables from my Satellite radio because it was going to cause a short! I have a cable plugged into the Aux port, a cable plugged into the cigarette lighter and the antenna cable. They are kind of just sitting there at the moment, the only one that is hidden is the antenna cable. May sat radio is suction cup mounted just to the left of the glove box and you can still open and close the box. Anyway, I sign the papers and tell him I would be back this week to have the problem fixed becuase I knew the problem was still there.
I go to my truck and I get in and there is my Satellite radio right on the passenger side floor. It had been removed. Now my issue with this is that there was no need for them to remove it and two if they had to just put it in the seat and tell me they took it down. I know that is a minor issue but it seemed kind of unprofessional to me.
I then go to my original sales guy and give him the blank survey so I can get my free gas and he tells me thanks and that another guy would be taking me to the gas station to get the gas. On our way, I explain to the salesman what just happened and he said that they did not have a technician there on the weekends! Basically they had 3 guys changing oil on the weekends. My issue here is that why couldn't this have been said in the first place, when I got there or when I called on Wednesday? If the guy would have told me that's why I needed to come back during the week I would have been annoyed but would have understood. Instead they wasted my time and their time and gave me a very poor indication of their service department. Do they think I am stupid, giving me the wheel lock story? BTW, the noise came back just as soon as I got back on the interstate.
I am calling the service manager tomorrow to voice my complaint. Any ideas (on the noise) or suggestions (on what to say to the manager)?
