I had a much smaller vehicle before the Titan so I always waxed and polished by hand. I think after today's wax job, I'm thinking about buying the Meguiars G100 polisher but it's kind of pricey ($200 or so). Just wondering what everyone else used...
I came from a Passat. Surface area must increase by wheelbase squared. Then my son got a Titan. That increased surface area by a factor of about eight.
I got a Porter Cable 7424. Go over to DetailCity.com - an excellent forum with lots of helpful folks. Some members there have said you can get a 7424 at Lowe's for $100. Ours is still under construction, so I can't verify that.
I use Klasse All-In-One, because (as the name implies) it cleans/polishes/protects in one application. I use the 7424 once or twice a year, since you can also apply Klasse by hand. If the clearcoat is truly clean and smooth, even hand application goes very quickly. As the folks at DetailCity will tell you, a clean, smooth paint or clearcoat (in our case) is the secret to a beautiful long lasting wax job. BTW many products are not really wax - Klasse AIO is acrylic. In the winter I try to keep a coat or two of carnuba wax on top of the AIO. Meguiar's NXT spray wax is a great product.
I bought my 7424 and pads from several web sites. If I did it over, I'd get the polisher and pads in one of the "starter kits" from one of the detailing suppliers. You'll find links to several at DetailCity.com.
I'm not familiar with with the G100, but if Meguiar's sells it, it's a fine product.
Good luck with all that new-found sheet metal!

I've always used Meguires Mirror Glaze products, with great success. I use the 00 wash, the #7 Show Car Glaze, then the #26 wax. The #7 can be skipped, but it gives the paint an awesome look.

I've always used zaino in the past and applied by hand. Ran out and needed something in a pinch, bought the new turtle wax platinum at wally world for $6. For $6 this stuff is very impressive, leaves an extremely deep, swirl mark free finish much like zaino and appears to leave a very hard finish behind, which gives the impression that it offers very good protection and lasting finish. Its nearly as easy to work with as zaino as well. I'd like to test it side by side with zaino, i'd be hard pressed to tell the difference I believe.
I switched from Meguire's Gold to this new
Meguire's NXT Tech Wax. Easiest on/off I have ever experienced. Shines up darker and lasts longer (through more washes).
Kind of pricey at $15/bottle. Should last 6-8 waxings.
I don't like to spend forever on the truck, so this stuff is great.
I use a one step Radiant Wax/Polish made by AutoGlym. If there's any light scratches I need to buff out, then I get the buffer with a red "mild aggressiveness" Meguires foam pad and hit it with AutoGlym O2B. After that, I glaze it and apply a good paste wax for a long lasting shine.
Yep, Lowes carries the 7424 Porter Cable orbital buffers and they go for around $109 the last time I checked.
