Anyone getting the run-around on the new brakes?

As I wait to get the new rotors on my truck with 6000 miles, they get worse and worse. I almost killed myself having to come to a sudden stop on the highway yesterday afternoon. The truck vibrated so hard the CD skipped.

I have had no success with the dealer I purchased it from. I just keep hearing "There are no parts, we can put you on a list."

I'll likely die on the road before they are repaired.

just a little help

My XE titan was doing the same thing about that same time in milage, but I took my truck to closest Nissan dealership, and they already new about it. I have found that its common in most Titans. The dealership fixed it with a quick fix by shaving the rotors flat again. They said when nissan finds permant replacement parts for the fix the install and parts are free. If you look around this site someone has the warrenty information for you.

Our dealership gets one set per week. Whomever is the lucky to have their brakes being worked on when it arrives gets it. In the meantime, they should be doing the brake rotor resurfacing until the permanent fix is available to everyone (Aug-Sep).

Get out the big guns and call Nissan. Explain that you've read the tsb and you want new rotors and that your dealer claims they can't get them. (The tsb doesn't say ANYTHING about turning 3x first).

I've had mine turned once, but when the start again I'm not even calling my POS dealer - I'm calling Nissan first. (It worked the last time I had a problem with them.)

I got no run around. I told them I was just starting to have the slightest vibration and I wanted to be put on the list for the final fix. I was talking to the service manager. I totally skipped the service desk guy. He wrote my name and phone number on the wall calander behind his desk. I called every week to double check.
About 2 to 3 weeks later the parts came in, I took the day off and got it in early that day. Took about 3 1/2 hours.
Tell them you are going on a long (3k mile) trip in about 3 weeks and you don't want the brake problem out on the open road in the middle of nowhere. My dealer said he gets about 2 to 3 kits a week. He even got an extra one from a dealer nearby who was not doing the final fix, but instead still turning the rotors.

Got my full-on permanent fix the first time in, only 2,650 miles. I had called every dealer for 30 miles (included 6 dealerships) and asked to be put on their list. Some said they wouldn't even put me on the list until they Mic'ed the rotors or until they were turned at least once. Others took my name and I decided to wait, then all the flutter about lemon lawing the truck showed up, and I decided to go ahead and get the ball rolling by having them turned. Since the law that applies to my requires 3 attempts to fix it, I thought what the heck, just let one of the dealers do the temp fix, then get another to another temp fix while I wait for the perm fix. To my great surprise, I dropped it off one morning at my closest dealer, and when I picked it up, it had all new perm fix parts (those starting with a z on the parts list). I'm very impressed, even though I was put on a list for the parts, they went ahead and did the right thing while my truck was there. In hindsight, I suppose the dealers will give preference to those vehicles actually in the bays, rather than some voice on the end of the phone. Worked for me, just my lucky day maybe.

It really depends on the dealership. Mine has been great about any issue and they have taken immediate action. The brake parts are still a little sparse and my dealership gets about 2 sets a week. I am next on the list and I don't even have the problem.

One step closer

Had mine fixed the first time around 12k, now at 16k it's in again. At least I'm on the list now!! I tried three dealers here in the Denver area, the first (closest to work) just put me on a list, nothing else said. The second (closest to home and where the brakes were fixed the first time) said the wait was two months again nothing else was said. So I call up the dealer where I purchased my truck (way on the other side of town) they offered to do the “Temp fix” and order the “permanent fix” plus they gave me a loner car for the day. I find it hard to believe these parts are so hard to get. Had mine fixed the first time around 12k, now at 16k it's in again. At least I'm on the list now!! I tried three dealers here in the Denver area, the first (closest to work)

Got the new brake kit last week. The dealer had placed me on a waiting and to my shock they called within a week to tell me the parts are in stock.

My truck just started getting the brake problem about a month ago, and I finally called today. Was told that I could either get the rotors turned, or be #50 on the list to get the new parts. Since the service writer indicated it would be a couple of months before they'd probably get my parts, I told him to go ahead and put me on the list, and I'd be in this week to get the rotors turned for now, as a temporary solution. He said that they (the dealership or Nissan?) would not allow both, as the problem is so widespread. He said that if I get the rotors turned, I could not get on the list until the problem returned. I didn't think anything about it on the phone. Since my brakes aren't that bad yet, I told him to just go ahead and put me on the list.

Thinking about it now though, that means that Nissan's new "policy" is that you are required to suffer with bad brakes for 1-2 months, or possibly even longer. Why can't they turn the rotors as a temporary solution WHILE my name is on the list waiting for the final fix???

To make matters worse, I'm going to be taking off for a 1500 mile trip next week, pulling a pop-up camper in the rockies. Without trailer brakes on a pop-up (2500 - 3000 lbs?), I'm certain that my brakes will deteriorate quickly.

Anybody else think this is screwed up?

My first and only visit to the dealer service dept was to get the whole TSB fix. New front rotors, new pads all around, turn rear rotors, new hardware. They did not need to check it first, machine the rotors a few times, mic the rotors, nothing. They understood the problem and took care of it on my word that it needed it.

That happened around 8-9K. I had turned them once myself at 7K but the dealer service dept didn't care. When I asked for the TSB fix on my first visit they said SURE! and scheduled me in. It took about two weeks to get the parts, and they handled it right on time with a decent job.

Eisenhaur Nissan comes thru again with quality customer service.
