What did you pay for PRG leveling kit installation?

Hi there, I just got an installation quote from Desert Rat (local suspension store in Tucson) and they wanted $220 for the 2" fron leveling kit and the 1" rear block, plus $50 for the alignment...

Is this OK?

I dont have any mechanicall skills so DIY might be out of the question...

THX in advance

dude, you can definatly do it yourself. the only skill you need is being bale to follow directions and be able to turn a wrench. besides that it is easy as pie.

And the new directions are much easier to follow than the old ones. Either way, you figure it will take a shop about 2 hours to install the kit @$65 ish per hour. They do NOT need to dissassemble the strut or use a spring compressor which they may think they need to at first. Be sure to show them the instructions so they can give an acurate quote.

Great question. I'm in the same boat as you regarding mechanical skills/confidence level.

As the manufacturer of this kit I would love to see those that are a bit intimidated by the install do it on thier own, and have a great feeling of thier acomplishments. I try to make myself easily acceptable to help through any part of the install, feel free to call when you get your kit and i can walk most anyone through the install beforehand to see if you want to tackle it yourself. I do get a great deal of satisfaction when someone accomplishes a duanting task successfully.

PRG- I am one of those, I just bought a kit from someone in the for sale section (unopened) and was trying to deciede if I want to try it myself or just pay someone.

Do you have a link to the new instructions?

What about alignment? Is there a way to avoid having to take it in for an alignment?

By the license plate in your front bumper I'm going to guess you are in Hermosillo and traveling 4 1/2 hours to Tucson, so don't forget to add the cost of driving and hotel, meals, shopping etc. I f you have the kit in your hands just go to a suspension shop like Mange auto centro, show them the instructions and is a no brainer, you wont spend nore than $150 dlls.

Well, when they asked how i sthis kit I told them it was some kind of spacer, the quicky asked, "like the Daystar?" and I answered mmm well its also a spacer, and they said, "OK", its $220...

But I will call them again and let them know that they do NOT need to dissassemble the strut or use a spring compressor and see f they still give me the same quote, I will also call the other Desert Rat store in tucson, Im glad there are 2 of them...

THX again...

I'm one of those guys that was scared to death because of the nature of the project, not to mention playing with a 30,000 dollar truck.

Well I decided to give it a go and with my brothers help, the project couldn't have went any easier.

However, if you've never worked with tools/ your hands and arn't familiar with some truck parts (ie suspension) well then it certainly will be intimidating and you might be better off parting with the $220 for peace of mind.

It will be worth it. You can certainly tell the front end is higher by looking at it and certainly by getting in and out of it.

Good luck whichever way you decide.

I just called the other Desert Rat store in Tucson and they told me that they wouldnt install any leveling kits on Titans because they had very bad experience en previous leveling kit installs...

I told them, hey it isnt a Daystar what I want installed, its from another manufacturer and that the kit actually works, they replied, it doesnt matter, we do not do leveling kits anymore on Titans...

This is the Desert Rat store that told me they will not install it, the same store that advertices probably in every off road magazine available, what a bunch of morons that didnt even want to look at the leveling kit or the instructions...

I will take the leveling kit tomorrow to the other shop to see what they have to say...

Greg: my wife just called me from home and told me that your package arrived... THX again...
