Question Miles per tank of gasoline?

Hey guys,
How many miles are you getting to a full tank of gas before you have to fill up? How many miles till the low gas light comes on?

I don't really keep my trip meter on. It makes filling up at the gas station much less of a bummer if I don't know the mileage I'm getting :-) Any how, I know my light always comes on when I have burned about 22 gallons. That's a pretty big reserve, but I like it that way.

Been averaging around 321. This last fill up with some light towing and heavy traffic I got 298. This is when the low gas light comes on. At that point I have between 5-6 gallons left in the tank.

I'm getting anywhere between 320-350, depending if I play with the throttle or not.

I can get at least 300 miles just farting around. I "we" don't use the truck for long trips, unless we are pulling the camper. We use the wifes car as it gets better gas milage sooo I don't know how many miles I could get going long distance.

On the few tank fulls when the gage worked I got to 300 and filled up, but don't know if the gage is actually providing the correct reading. A couple of times he just stayed at full while I racked up miles and then all of a sudden the needle moves!

Somewhere between 285 and 350 miles per tank. Get the lower number on days that I can't justify the premium gas. There is also a large factor of traffic. I will in all fairness admit to having a rather heavy right foot. I am usually doing around 75+, so the cost is just Karma's form of revenge.

How the heck?

The numbers in this post are realistic to me. I'm gettin' around 300-350 per fill up. If this is the case, how are so many of the people getting 17+ miles per gallon?

At 350 miles per tank, that would avg. around 12.5 mpg correct? Do we just have a bunch of fakers out there?

17+ miles per gallon must be just highway driving.

I agree with all of the above but at the same time if I go on a long trip and drive around 70 I will get 16 to 17.5 mpg every time. I guess my range would be 12 to 14 around town and 16+ on the highway. This is my fourth truck since 1986 and first 4x4 and the gas mileage is at par or in some cases much better then what I had before. When guys complain about gas mileage I think they must of had a car or mini van before. As for a full size 4x4 truck these trucks are just fine.

Hey just my 2 cents

I've gone 440 miles before gassing up, i'm sure it was close, gas light in mine illuminates with approx. 6-7 gallons of gas in the tank. So I have 100+ miles to go after the light comes on.

A "tank of gas" is a totally meaningless since it is a random number.

And yes if your engine choked at 350 miles then you would be getting 12.5.

Odds are at the pump you would still have about 5 gallons left and are getting around 15.

I actually ran out of gas driving into the gas station at a little over 375 miles. Found out the hard way that my gas light, doesn't work.

I can get about 100 miles per quarter tank as indicated on the guage. I really haven't let it go much below 1/4 so I can't tell you how mnay miles I can surely get or when the light comes on for me. I've been getting about 16 MPG running mainly highway with a/c running. Now once I change my oil, we'll see how it is doing...
