ouch that hurt....dam

driving down a construction road at 20 mph and this other car passing in opposite direction threw up a rock which hit my windshield......dam, I saw it coming as a meteor from outerspace and whaaammoooo

Now I have a chipped and broken windshield from something I feel is not my fault, but who do I turn to...

Thank God I live on a Military installation...I reported it to the Provost Marshalls and then took the report to the Claims office...

Now I just have to wait for the verdict....ohh the suspense....but at least I got to try............

I don't know about your insurance but mine is 0% deductable for glass breakage. I've used it on more than one occasion, they just send out a mobile installer to my job site and replace it. Good luck.

Had a rock hit my windshield several months ago, causing 3 cracks each about 10" long. My insurance (American Family) said they only pay for damage if the chip is smaller than a dime, and the cracks are less than a few inches long (don't remember the number). It still isn't fixed...

At the beginning of the month, I hit a Raven at 65 MPH. He smacked my driver side towing mirror, and caused it to fold closed. The impact was so hard that it cracked my mirror on the opposite side.

$72.00 later, I have a new mirror. I feel your pain.

I have friends in AmFam... the deal is they will foot the bill if it can be fixed. Typically, that means something that is not in your field of view and is small enough to put some super duper clear bondorama somthing or other. Basically, they get some starving glass man to drive around and fix what he can with the deal that he can replace, at a grossly inflated rate, any windshields that can't be fixed... for that your normal deductible applies... the whole insurance game gets me heated just thinking about it...

As for the original post... in my state (Oregon) a truck is liable for the damage rocks do that it kicks up. A girl I know collected around $1000 for damage done to her truck from a semi kicking up a bunch of rocks. The trick is getting the info from the truck. If you can get a license # or vehicle number you can often collect from them... I have never had cause to try it personally and it does seem like an avenue to scam some poor trucking company into fixing some damage on your vehicle.... but I have known two people that have got paid out.... Oregon is a bit odd sometimes with laws like this....
