Two total different class trucks, both with High Standards of quality. Its merely which one is going to meet your needs i.e. hauling, pulling or a family outting. The Titan does both with no issues. The Frontier a little tight in the cabin.
Sodbuster, orignally, I too had the same question as you.
However, after driving both, letting a week or so pass, it became bell clear that for less than $3K difference and frequently even less (at a discounted price level), you can purchase the Titan. You have all the power, room, and deluxe fittings that Frontier owners can only dream about (respectfully stated).
The Titan is discounted heavily while the Frontier is not. Why? Nissan makes more Titans and is totally dedicated toward cracking the American big truck market. In effect, Nissan is subsidizing the Titan to "move'm out." Prudently, it just does not make any sense to go with a smaller more expensive (per pound or per cubic inch) vehicle. The Titan is a class beater and offers more of everything for less money. At this juncture in time, the Titans are being offered at invoice LESS $3K rebates. On the local dealer's lot, I see rows of them with a low price of 18.5K but most with good options going for about 22K to 26K. Do your due dilligence and the math and you should be able to make a correct educated decision.
VERY WELL stated. Broke it down like most of us meant
Drive both, back-to-back... and get the one you like most. If you are serious about buying... think of your needs, write them down and compare. Factory in insurance, gas, etc.
Then get the one you like the most. Whatever anyone said here is kind of pointless... you're going to be the one paying the monthly payment and living with it for the next 2-3 years (depending on how you paid). Get the one that puts a smile on your face

Had a 99 KC 4x4 Frontier (V6). It was fun to drive and good on tight offroad trails. Easy to park. Fit in the garage. Fairly quick, not real sluggish.
Had a 2002 SE CC 4x4 Frontier (V6). Lots of non-engine related modifications. 1st "ordered from the factory" vehicle for me. Seemed alot heavier that the 99 KC. Slower but not terrible. Alittle less easy to drive on tight trails, but doable. Still easy to park. Fit in the garage.
Have a 2004 SE CC 4x4 Titan (V8). Quick, fast, big, lots of room. Safe. Super fun to drive. Not easy to park, but not hard with practice. Won't fit in the garage. Do not take it on the narrow trails I used to go on with the Frontiers, (at least not after the 1st couple of nice tree/brush/palmetto scratches) but still get her out 4x4ing every month or two. Great on the open highway. Fun around town. Gas milage is about the same as my old 2002 Frontier CC.
I would still get a new Frontier if I ever get out of the Titan for whatever reason. Just not in any hurry. Certainly not for the minimal gas savings.

Some of us beat you to the punch by saying the same thing so, not everything "anyone" said here was pointless.

Please explain this... I'm interesested in what you think is pointless. If you read all of them they have alot of valid points. The original poster asked for our opinion and it was stated.
Go for the Titan all the way. When getting my brakes done I had a chance to slip into an extended cab frontier. Everything is much smaller. The driver area felt tight, the extended cab felt even tighter, the bed was very small, smaller wheels, smaller engine with only a small mpg advantage, just everything about it did not seem right but I've had my Titan for almost a year. I really do not need a truck this size but I wanted something that I can grow into. I've owned lots of vehicle before the Titan but I still have that new car feeling about it. If I was to do it all over again I would still buy a Titan but have a beater for better gas mpg. I got a Titan 4x2 xe and felt the price was a bargin. You should be able to get one for under $20,000 and just add power windows/keyless entry for $200 like I did.
I should be getting my flowmaster delta 50 muffler this week and I can't wait. No regrets as long as my beater is still running and getting 31mpg. Power for play and mpg for work.
Nissan stepped it's mini-truck game up 2x over when they brought out the new Frontier, I really love it. Previously if I was looking for a compact truck the Tacoma was the clear winner but now I'd have a tough time choosing.
However comparing it to a Titan is really unfair. You have to consider where you live, where you have to park, your fuel budget (albeit not much of a difference), and what and who you have to haul regularily.
I had a chance to drive my Dad's new 2005 Nismo 4x4 KC Frontier today. As far as room goes, there is no comparison between the Titan and the Frontier. That being said, I still have plenty of room in the Frontier. I am 6'5" 285 and have no trouble driving it. The 4.0 V6 has plenty of power. The truck is extremely quiet. With me being the gorilla that I am, I prefer my Titan but I would not be uncomfortable at all on a long trip in the Frontier. I agree with the other posters, get what puts a smile on your face. If you have any questions about features on the Frontier, feel free to ask and I can get the information or post pictures if needed.

Next year when gas hit's $3.50 a gallon almost anything with a V-8 engine will start dropping in value. Even at today's fuel prices all of the plants building trucks/ SUV'S are scaling back on production. For me I'd still get the Titan but I have a 60+mpg hybrid that I commute to work with, if I were to rely on just the Titan I'd be spending $450 a month in fuel bills.
My last truck was a 2000 Frontier SE, with the new higher HP engine and larger size in the new ones I see no real benefit to going with the frontier unless it was for a 4 cylinder model and I don't know if you can get those anymore.
I had an 02 Supercharged KC Frontier 4x4 that was a lot of fun. It had a decent amount of power and the blower was fun to listen to. But you can't get them like that new anymore, so that's a moot point.
I'm on my 2nd Titan now and now that I have had a full-size truck, I doubt that I could ever go back to the mid-size. More room in the cabin, more room in the bed, and I feel a lot more secure when towing/hauling. Insurance price isn't much of a factor. The two trucks are probably within $10/month of each other.
But it all comes down to this. Figure out what you will be doing with a truck. Drive both and see which one you like better and which one will fill your needs better. Both are very reliable, class-leading, fun-to-drive trucks.
One other thing, I sure do love the commanding view that a full-size truck gives you.
