I don't want to be ridiculed, but here goes: I am buying a new truck. Should I purchase the Frontier or the Titan? The Frontier gets a claimed 2mpg better. What are you Titan owners REALLY getting for milage day to day?
Thanks
Titan!!! just a bigger truck. I get decent gas mileage about 14 to 15 mpg in the city. Its up to you in the end but a Titan is a truck the frontier is more like a gmc canyon or a Tacoma.
If gas mileage is the only issue buy the frontier, if you want a real truck buy the Titan.
Gas mileage varies, if you were to ask everyone here you would get a diffrent response, if you were to avearge everyones together you would prolly get somewere around 14-17 city and 18-21 highway.
Frontier is where I started looking a few years back. I only wanted a truck. But after much research and feet-dragging, I realized that the 2mpg saved, if that's really true was not worth the space, power, and sheer fun I would get with the Titan.
I have a 4X4 CC, no off-road or BT pkg and I avg. around 16/19. I live in a more rural area with some hills, but not a lot of stop and go...
Consider the Titan, you won't regret it...

no offence if 2 mpg is gonna break you the frontier is the way to go being it cheaper to begin with , I would figure in that you will get the worst mpg and see its something you can deal with , the diffrence in size, ride, power and fun is huge but its truly a matter of needs

Funny you ask, i have a forntier with an auto that im doing some prototype work on and its pretty fun. But today i drove a 6 speed frontier and its pretty sporty. The titan still feels alot bigger and more powerful, but the frontier was kinda fun to drive too. Price wise, i think the titan is a better deal though.

PRICE- Depending on what options and class, there is not much diffrence in price between the two, a LE Frontier is close in price to a SE Titan. I almost bought the Frontier but decided to wait untill I found the right deal on the Titan and I did...

So True
I was looking between the two and you get more for your money with the titan and hopefully better resale value is what I'm hoping plus you can do a lot more with the full size and a V8

Titan is a better deal... if you gonna get a truck, get a truck. You won't regret it, the MPG varies. Seriously.. this is coming from someone who had a frontier. It was a 03 V6 with a weak motor. Very slow, but I kept getting around 14-15 miles per gallon. The titan gets the same but I'm much happier driving the titan around..
I think it all comes down to what you're looking for in a truck. If you want something to tow a good size load, something with more room, or your best bang for the immediate buck, the Titan makes sense. But if you need something a little easier on gas, doesn't need to tow large loads, easier to park, and better handling, the Frontier would have to get the nod. I've always loved the VQ V6 and its' 265 HP has to put it right up close in the speed dept, with Titan.

It simply depends on what you want it for. If you need the utility that the Titan offers, then the Frontier isn't on the plate. If the Frontier will handle your needs, then you are buying a Titan because????
You compare the Titan to other similar trucks not the next size down.
That new Frontier is a nice truck, dont listen to the people that have or have had the old one.
Figure out your need then go drive both, see what you come up with.

Sodbuster, orignally, I too had the same question as you.
However, after driving both, letting a week or so pass, it became bell clear that for less than $3K difference and frequently even less (at a discounted price level), you can purchase the Titan. You have all the power, room, and deluxe fittings that Frontier owners can only dream about (respectfully stated).
The Titan is discounted heavily while the Frontier is not. Why? Nissan makes more Titans and is totally dedicated toward cracking the American big truck market. In effect, Nissan is subsidizing the Titan to "move'm out." Prudently, it just does not make any sense to go with a smaller more expensive (per pound or per cubic inch) vehicle. The Titan is a class beater and offers more of everything for less money. At this juncture in time, the Titans are being offered at invoice LESS $3K rebates. On the local dealer's lot, I see rows of them with a low price of 18.5K but most with good options going for about 22K to 26K. Do your due dilligence and the math and you should be able to make a correct educated decision.
