Exclamation Jack Stand Use Help

I should be getting my exhaust in this week from B&B and I am going to install it myself. I am wondering if I just used a floor jack that I have and put 4 jack stands under the titan and lowered it onto them if it would be safe for me to install the exhaust. Or if I should just use 2 jack stands at a time and work on the front then the rear. The jack and the jack stands are all rated at 3-1/2 tons. Any help would be appreciated, dont want to go and kill myself. lol. Cheers, Chris

jack stands

When we installed my Gibson cat back, we didn't need to jack it...not that doing so would have made it easier-it would have!

If you need to do so, only two at a time. We don't want to read about you getting smushed and someone selling a slightly damaged Titan

Your 3 1/2 ton jack stands are more than adequate.

Have fun. Plan on 4 hours.

I just installed a Banks cat/back and didn't jack it up. I'd get some PB Blaster and let it sit on the bolts over night. As long as you can remove all the bolts and take the exhaust completely apart, you shouldn't need to jack the truck up to get out the old parts. If you do need to jack it up, I'd loosen the bolts first before you put it up on the stands. That way you can torque on the bolts without having to worry about nocking the truck off the stands.

If you want to get it up in the air a bit, don't hesitate to get 4 jackstands under it.

Click on the Austin's Titan Page link in my sig, then click the the suspension lift install - there are quite a few pictures of good places to locate the jackstands.

Here's the front:

and the back:

all four...

Honestly... you are not working on the wheels or susupension, why even jack it up???

If you want to rear end (or the whole truck) up a bit to make it easier to work on, just get couple peice of 2x10... cut it into 4 equal boards and park the truck on them. You instantlt get couple inches of clearence

Not that jack-stand is a bad idea... it something you don't need for a exhaust install. Make life more simple.

NOTE: Haven't check what type of hangers Nissan use... but if it's the rubber type like all imports, remember to use some soapy water to slide the hangers off

I just want a little more room under the truck, it was tight enough down there when I put on the aries nerf bars. I think I might just do two at a time since I have gotten some mixed replies. I got a jack so why not jack it up and make it a little easier on myself. Cheers, chris

when i installed the b&b i didnt use jack stands, trust me its really easy to install w/o them unless your a very large person (im 6'1 220), but to each his own. btw the two flanges connecting to the stock cats are excelent on the system But the two connecting the pipe coming from the drivers side to the muffler and the one in the back connecting the tailpipe to the exhaust are horrible. mine leaked badly, so bad that a bigger gasket wouldnt help. i ended buying some ss wire and welding the connections together. you could use high temp rtv silicone like another member did which should work fine for a good while or take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it up. be sure to tell them you want ss welds using tri-mix gas if they have to make multiple passes on it like i had to.
