Valet Key

My recently purchased 05 Titan XE came with three keys. Two has the highlighed Nissan emblem with the "chip". One is a plain black key. According to the owners manual, this is the Valet key and will not open or work in the console lock , if equipped, Mine doesnt have one.. OR will not work or open the tail gate. So why does my Valet key lock and unlock the tail gate? All three keys will lock or unlock all locks..

Ive got three keys as well, two w/ chips and a valet. The valet lock/unlock doors and tailgate, but will not start truck. Now I never owned a car w/ valet keys before, my wife has Odyssey and it came w/ valte but needed to use it.
If your valet key starts then its not a valet ket and its chiped.

That doesn't make sense. Why would the valet key not start the truck? How are they supposed to do there job if the key doesn't start it?

If you have the bed PKG, the valet key will not open the the outside storage compartment as well.

You know what?, I said the same damn thing but mine does not start. They told me that when I got the truck. This key is a tad bit smaller than the other two. I don't really use it anyway b/c I have the others and keyless entry. As for the valet, they would jobless when it comes to my truck being parked.

I may be an idiot for making this public but... I have many things in my life designed to protect myself from myself. My valet key rides in a top secret location within a magnetic key holder. Being someone who is not that bright I have a tendancy to pull the keys to stop the door chime, throw them on the passenger seat, hit the lock and walk away That's the best use I've found for it... I guess ideally I'd get a non-programmed key cut and that way if anyone did find it they couldn't drive off but I could still get the door open.

... that they gave you the wrong key. My asian sales guy gave me 2 regular keys and 2 key fobs right from the start (you know, where they hand you the keys to "your new truck" - I just love that!!!), & then he looked all over the friggin' dealership for the 3rd one. He kept passing back and forth by me as I sat and watched the Gators in the college world series in the waiting room, every time saying things like, "Iss in lock up", "Iss in storage", "Iss in the service department", "Iss behind counter." Finally he hands me a key and says "OK I finally find it."

They key doesn't work. He obviously got tired of looking for it and just handed me some leftover they had sitting around. Oh well.

Ha, i have a simulair tendancy to leave the keys on top of the center seat. I didnt get a valet key though. i was amazed at how easy it is to get in this truck when i lock my keys in

valet keys are only supposed to open the door and start the truck. they should not open any of your other locks. also if you get a remote start installed the installer usually uses the valet key for the programer so it will start with out the key in the ignition.

when i picked up my truck they only gave me 2 keys too. 1 regular key and the valet key, i had to wait 2 days for them to find the other key and my wheel lock

I'm still waiting for the 2nd Nissan key

They tried to make it good by programming and cutting a 2nd valet key (cheaper) but I'm still waiting.

Hey, I think you got something there, one of the keys does not have the chrome logo on it can start the truck, that one I gave to the wife. The third one only locks/unlocks the doors/tail. Hey, who knew?
