Glad to see you're taking the damage well. You could have had it much worse. I did $8000 in damages with the wifes new car a few years back hitting a deer head on. Guess where I was headed to? The body shop, to drop off the car to fix a minor dent. You had to see the look at the guys face when the car rolled in.
One interesting thing I learned is if you hit a wild animal your comprehensive insurance covers it and the deductabile is usually reasonable. Hit a Dog or other domestic animal and your collision gets charged and the deuctable is much higher.

Clint
my insurance guy explained it this way:

If a deer runs into you, it's covered under comprehensive.

If a telephone pole runs into you, it's collision. LOL

If I ever hit dog, i'd say it was a racoon or something.. or a doe.

Try the dent doctor. They can straighten out tin foil very nicely without too much trouble!

If you would have hit the deer head on or backed into it, it would not even have lost any hair thanks to the crumple zones thusly designed!

Bigmd,

Good thing the deer did not hit the deer off center or high side in a substantial way, else I have a feeling your truck would have been totaled.

Good to hear all the occupants of the vehicle in both cases are ok.

Can ya imagine a moose hit or an elk for that matter!

Man, you guys make me feel like such a idiot! All this time I have been using my bow, never thought of using my truck for deer hunting. That would be the most comfortable stand!! Do you have to adjust your horn to sound like a deer grunt or does the exhaust sound get them fired up?

Seriously, glad to hear no one was hurt.

That is a good idea....you can take deer legally out of season that way! Kind of a pricey weapon, though, when compared to a nice bow/rifle!

Did the SOB have insurance?

I like the joke the guy from the Blue Collar Comedy tour tells about his brother-n-law. He tells the story of his b-n-l getting up at 3:00 to be out in the field before the deer wake. Climbing up a tall tree and wearing deer pee to discuise his scent. The spies a deer on the horizon and fires a piece of lead at him at 1800 feet per second.

The comedian replies that he got a deer too. All he had to do was slow the bullet down to 60MPH, put 2 headlights on it, and have a blairing horn!

If you look at this month's Car and Driver, they have the long term wrap-up of the Titan. They took a picuture of the hood where they nailed a bird. The editor jokes around saying that it looks like it was a frozen turkey instead of a little bird. Pretty good damage to it too.

Well, got her back today! Looks like a really good job! when the sun comes out I'll be able to see better how well the match on the GB paint is... they assured me it would be no problem.

It even looks like the detailed the whole truck. (though not as good as I could have done, I still appreciate it!)

While it was there my buddy (svc mgr there) joked they would get me into an F150 after this. I lauged and said "if I get a truck from you, it will be the Lincoln." His eyes lit up...

then I researched the truck. 10k (min) more (after trade in) for less truck, basically an F150 with chrome trim. 300hp... no thanks! But it does have the best towing capacity in it's class. The "luxury truck" class... lol.... 8900... pfftt...

I was hoping to get my PRG kit while it was there but my order seemed to get lost so it got shipped out a week late.. oh well... we'll still get er done.

Same thing happend to me in my Honda Accord. I was getting on to the freeway when I saw one deer creeping up on the shoulder. I slowed down and came to a complete stop, when all of a sudden, his "kamakazi" partner T-boned my car. Needless to say that was the best thing to ever happen to me. Now I own a Titan.

I tell you man the Animals are against us. Animal terrorism! We must put an end to these sensless acts. First, birds pooping on our cars. Then deer running in to them. What next, animals driving.............oh wait....too late.
