Should I swap for an '05?

Stopped by the Nissan dealership today to look at the Titans they have on the lot. I found an '05 Silver KC LE with NAV, Big Tow, and Offroad package. I have an '04 Silver KC LE w/@ 3k miles and without any of the options above. They are asking 31K for the truck. Do you think I should trade in my truck and spend a couple extra thousand for the '05? Those of you who have these options, would it be worth it?

Would cost you $7000+

They will kill you on trade in.If your truck listed for $2000 less than that $31000 truck then your truck would sell new for $29000 which means they will give you ~$24000+ for it now(or less)..I would pass unless you need that stuff. If you have the $$ burning a hole in your pocket, then go for it.Once you drive off the lot the trade in is 85% of what you paid-not 85% of MSRP.Charlie

I am going to ask them. If it's more than a couple thousand I will forget about it. I could use all of the options regularly but I don't have money to burn.

year old...

If your '04 is only 12 months old... they *WILL* kill you on the trade. If you are really thinking about it... sell it on your own.

That's why I always buy the truck I want, with all the options I am looking for... even if I have to drive out of my way to pick it up. I've been in your shoes more then once in my last 13+ car purchase.

If you are going to do that, wait for the 06. More stuff coming, more standard stuff

Did you find out what you would get for trade? I was thinking along the same lines. I have an 05 KC and am thinking about trading for an 05 CC - still debating between extra bed lenght vs extra rear leg room. I know, I should have settled that debate BEFORE I bought my truck (it's only 2 months old with 1100 miles). Oh well.......

No, I haven't had a chance to talk to them yet. This was just a thought I was having. I know I should have gotten everything I wanted from the start. I will from now on. It might be a better route to just add the things I want myself. It would be fun to do and I would get the exact mods I wanted. I guess what I really wanted was the locking differential, lower gearing, and NAV system. I will talk to them anyway and see what they say.

Unless you do A LOT of fourwheeling in thick mud at 2mph then the locker is pretty much a useless option. The NAV system is not that great either. You can pick up a Magellan Roadmate 300 for $300 on eBay that is much better than the Titan's, and it will go with you from car to car. If you are not towing, or towing lighter loads then your higher gearing will do just fine and will save you a touch on the mpg side as well.

long story short, stick with what you have and save the money and get a really nice GPS...maybe even the Roadmate 700. That is the only useful option you mentioned above.

Good point, BAT1. I do a lot of fourwheeling or am in a position to use four wheel drive often (which I have) and more than likely wouldn't use the locker in most situations. It's just that one time that you wish you had it. I will look into the Magellan. Thanks everyone for your opinions. Like I said, this was only an idea I had and wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Many minds are better than one!!

Bat1-right-and you can transfer the Garmin!

Bat1,you're right. You can get a great aftermarket system for 300-$600,and you can take it with you when you sell.Charlie
