Thumbs up Rental Mustang!

Flew to Cincinnatti this week for a business trip. Hertz wanted to give me a Taurus, but I asked about the new Mustang. Turns out they had a nice white one with tan interior with about 11K miles on the V6

Anyway, I was really surprised at the fit and finish of the whole car! It was a fun car to drive, despite the V6 and 5spd auto. I think the 5spd did a LOT for the engine, for if it had the stupid regular 4spd, it probably wouldn't have been very fun. I put about 350 hard miles on it. Plenty of burn-outs and 1 torque stand. Steering was nice and responsive and the brakes were about perfect. The interior didn't look too cheap either. My only complaint was the stupid speedometer was difficult to read.

Enterprise rents just about anything. I've had an F150, a Jeep Grand Cherokee among others, but have seen anything from an Armada to a Jag on their rental lot and even see Titan's around town with their infamous E on the tailgate and license plate holder that says "My other car is an Enterprise Rental" which is a dead giveaway for it being a rental. I even got a GMC Envoy from Hertz when I was out in Oregon in May (and a Dodge Intrepid when I was out there 2 yrs prior), which surprised me since Hertz has always been specific to Ford and Ford only. Times are changing and you can't always expect the rental companies to rent a specific brand as it had been in the past. I asked a guy at Enterprise a few years ago why they never rented Honda, since I figured it would save on service cost - told me that Honda wont sell to rental companies. Said it had to do with Honda not seeing a need to sell to rental car companies. Who knows....as long as I don't even get a POS again like the Mercury Tracer I had a few years back LOL usually just set up to get myself a small-med SUV.

Magazine article I read about the V6 Mustang said it ran about the same 0-60 time as the old 5.0. That's not bad for a base engine.
I'm not really into retro styling, but it's definitely the best Mustang in a long time. Too bad they didn't launch it a couple years ago, it might have inspired Chevy to update instead of drop the Camaro.

My wife has finally succeeded in working her "stop speeding!" nag into my head. I just set the cruise at 9 over the spd limit and let her go. I just paid my last speeding ticket of $134 to some ho-dunk town in southern AL accross the FL border. The stupid road jumped from 45 to 65 to 55 all over the place and I missed the sign for 55. Cop got me doing 74 in a 55.

When I dropped off the Mustang, I think I saw a Mustang convertable there. Are those even out yet? They did have a GT there too. I really wanted that one, as the company was paying for the gas!

Now I gotta find another excuse for traveling to get the GT!

I know Ford owns Hertz. Never said they didn't, BUT only that it "surprised me since Hertz has always been specific to Ford and Ford only". Check out their website and look up the the vehicles offered at local sites (PDX for Portland and AUS for Austin to name a few). You'll see anything from GMC Envoy's to Subaru Outback wagons to Toyota Avalons to name a few.

thats about right since the old fox body 5.0's had about 200-225 horsepower stock, and the 94-95 5.0's had 215 to 240 horsepower stock. and the new v6 has 210 horses stock.
the old 5.0's were so restricted from the factory its rediculous. the good thing about them though is that they responded well to mods.
