I want to try to eliminate some of the dirt, mud, and rock fling up from the tires. I was wondering if anyone has had success with just the side steps and no mud flaps? From the pics that i have seen, and real-life trucks that i've seen with the side steps, it looks like they (sidesteps) would control this problem. Can someone with only sidesteps concur? I really don't want to have to install mud flaps.

I just got the side-steps put on today and I still have the mudflaps on. Honestly I didn't notice any different between and after. However they are in just about the perfect place to keep rocks off the side of your truck. I know it's not exactly what you were looking for but thought maybe it could help.

Dirty water/ mud does still get sprayed up on the lower sides of the truck, on the doors and behind the rear wheels, but it's not too bad. I don't think the side steps will block it completely, maybe just a little.

When I first bought my CC Titan, I had neither the step rails or mud guards. I have since put on the factory step rails, but I still get a significant amount of dirt and splash. I'm ordering the mud guards to see if that helps.
I am currently debating the same thing, I do not no if I like the splash guards on the 4x2. I am more concerned about the rocks then dirt spray, those big tires through up a lot of stones and I have a couple chips already so I will most likely add them weather they look good or not to protect my paint.
The mud flaps help a ton in preventing not only dirty but also rocks from kicking up onto the side of the truck. I went to a mud pit last week and was very impressed with the minimal amount of mud that landed on my truck. Actually I was pi$$ed since I was trying to get her covered in mud. They are small but they look nice IMO, so I say go for em.
