There's a new Titan in the house!

You're probably right to call the sentiment cheesy or call me more than a bit giddy, but I can't resist to fire off a brief post letting everyone know that, after over a 1/2 year of subdued but simmering deliberation, I finally traded in my Toyota Tacoma and got myself a Smoke LE Titan CC 4X2 with Side Airbags and the Bench Seat.

This baby is awesome!

I'd like to thank everyone at titantalk.com for all the thoughtful, helpful tips and advice they've offered during my initial research--if you can call six or seven months initial research!

Here are a few quick observations with more to come:

1. I am finding myself looking for reasons to go on long drives because the truck is so much darn fun to drive. That engine growl is something else to hear riding along at 70 on the freeway in those taut leather seats.

2. Compared to my Tacoma, the interior is so roomy and plush that when I looked over to see how my wife was doing in the new truck, it looked like she was about 20 feet away.

3. The first day we invited some friends to go to the local Six Flags theme park and that was the most fun I've had with 5 other people in a vehicle and the rear bed packed with gear. I knew that bench seat would come in handy someday, but I didn't think it would be put to the test so soon.

4. I was against the idea of that sliding bed extender, but it's already proved itself useful in keeping our cooler in place as well as providing a secure spot for an A/C unit I had to haul today.

5. The much-maligned RF system isn't really as bad as some make it out to be, and it's better than the stock system in my wife's '03 Accord--but last time I checked Honda isn't spending so much effort advertising their system. It lacks some top end crispness and the midrange isn't particularly punchy, but the tone fills in if you turn it up more. Nevertheless, I still have a feeling that a complete new system to fuel my rock and blues groove could be in the works.

6. The first thing I did is debadge the entire truck's doors and tailgate of what I think are the gaudy emblems Nissan put on the truck. Now it looks a bit more elegant and sleek, but with a bit of a mean streak, kind of like a Nazi staff car in the old movies.

7. I ordered the Armada air dam to put under the front bumper for that extra little front end streamlined appeal. Hey, with this truck, a new Cold Air Intake could be next?

Anyway, here's my Titan's formal introduction to the forum and I'm looking forward to many happy, dependable years with my new ride...

Thanks again, everybody, and see you all around here again real soon!

Congratulations, I bet the two kiddos next to that truck love it just as much as you do. My kids always want to go in the Titan when we go anywhere.

I don't know which "kid" is happier.

Me or my 3 year-old son!

Congrats! I know you will have a ton of fun with the new toy. I do the same thing you do, I look for excuses just to take it out and drive it. Mod central to it and lots more to come. I am sure you will have a lot of fun picking mods out for yours!
