Yep...

That's pretty common for Nissan to do. My 2001 SC Frontier had the nice alloy 17" rims and the spare was a match to the other four on it, as well.

Its the little details that show they want to give you the best they can. Thanks Nissan I'll have to add that tire into the rotation sequence and will never be embarrased with a black steel spare or donut again!!!

Um, you're not supposed to do that.

The idea is if you're rotating your spare too, then when the miles add up, the spare will have just as many miles and can be in just as bad shape as the tire you're replacing. Also, with directional tires, it can throw off the rotating sequence from side to side.

FYI - check your spare, mine was inflated to over 65 psi! I know if I was on the side of the road, in the dark or rain changing a flat, the last thing I would check is the psi of the spare if it looked full. Wouldn't take long to be calling the tow truck at 65!

there also may be an issue with pressure monitoring and the whether or not the spare is equipped with the sensor to do so...

Mine was at 44psi. They pump them high since tires do go flat over time (and spares can sit for years). It's a good idea, but 65psi is damn high if that's what yours read.

I got a flat at 800 miles. Pulled out the tire pressure gauge from the cabin and deflated it to the 35psi the other tires were at.

BTW rotating the spare onto your drivline WILL make the TPMS light go off on your dash. While it was great on Nissan to put a full-size spare on, they did not put a sensor in it!

Spare does not have the tire pressure monitor.

Do not include the spare with the rotation

The spare gets dirty time from time (last checked at 20K) and it was a little dirty

just my .02

Common sense. The spare is what it is. Get a flat, put the spare on temporarily until you get a new one, and put it back where it belongs, reguardless if it is "just like the others". It is deeper than that, just don't want to type it all out. For gods sake, read the owners manual and other labels on the truck if you don't believe me.......

If you check the manual, Nissan's recommended rotation sequence in front to back, same side. They do not recommend switching sides (changing the rotation). If you threw the spare in the mix, ultimately you'd have to change rotation somewhere and I've seen spectacular blowouts that would convince you that that's not a good idea...

well with no pressure sensor it would get annoying. But back in the day car manufacturers actuall had a sequence includin the spare either way I've got AAA so if the spare blows then I'm getting towed.
