She's gone...

Well, after 19 months of happy times together, tonight I said good bye to the galaxy titan crew cab.

I absolutely loved the truck, but at this point I couldn't justify keeping it and paying $200 - $300 in gas each month just to haul my butt to work as I continue to watch gas prices escalate.

Not sure why, but I never did better than 16 MPG with this truck, and often as low as 11-12.

She's gone now, and I'll miss it for a while, but I'll smile when filling up the other vehicles with gas knowing I'm saving $100 a month.

Sorry you had to make the change but, every time I get in my truck, it more than justifies what I have to pay in gas! Good luck on your new car.

Sadly I don't think you're the only one that is selling because of gas. I'm seriously considering trading mine in for a BMW E90.

You are correct.

The same Honda dealer I bought from also took another one in on trade this week.

Weird stuff.

She's gone

Sorry to hear about the decision.

I was thinking about what it would take for me to have to make that decision.

I am very lucky in that I commute 4 miles to work so that right now is not an issue.

I actually would consider buying another vehicle as an option...

Hopefully another Titan will be in your future!

I've thought about it too, but that thought soon passed when I saw pictures of a recent MVA-ugh. Not to scare or discourage, but I'm having real issues with smaller vehicles lately...

What kind of car did you get? You cans till hang out here. You're not required to have a Titan-it helps, but not required...

Too bad you decided to sell, but I certainly understand. The thought has crossed my mind a few times -- especially today.

I drive about 3 miles each way to work and am glad that's all. They just raised the price of gas from $2.55 to $2.75 a gallon today. I can't believe it has gone up about $1 in the last 3 months. Too bad for all the folks that need a large vehicle for work, or just have long commutes.

Just did a quick calculation and found if I were to drive 12,000 miles a year, and given that gas is now $1.25 a gallon more than it was when I bought the truck, it would be costing me at least $1,000 a year more. As it stands, it is costing me about $600 a year more since I only drive about 6,000 miles a year.

I should add that I only drive about 12 miles each way to work. But premium just went up to $2.82 yesterday. I don't care....I'm keeping mine. Even if I think this whole gas price crap is political BS.

About a week and a half ago I drove out in the Titan, passed a gas station and over night it had gone from 2.19 to 2.38. I changed my destination and headed for the Honda dealer. My wife has been driving a '95 Probe 6 cyl pos, I sold the good car when I bought the Titan because it was lots of trouble, so we really needed to buy a car. I bought an Accord Hybrid. I figured that between the two of us we will average out and maybe she will allow me to drive it one or two days a week. Little did I know that 2.38 was only the tip of the iceberg. So far I think the highest price here has been 2.59.

But remember, inflation is in check, the economy is healthy and getting healthier...

Does anybody really believe that c..p? Why don't they quit lying?

I understand completely where you are coming from, however there is no way that 25 dollars a week is going to stand between me and my truck. Make your point next week when that 25 bucks jumps to 50. Maybe then I'll bite.

All I can say is I'm glad I kept my Maxima. I only use the truck for the weekends now and use the Maxima for work.

I too have thought about bailing on my titan as i drive around 3500 miles a month. but since ive got to have a truck anyway and since nobody else makes a truck that gets any better gas mileage i guess I'm going to continue to enjoy my titan and cringe at every fillup.
For the record mine avgs around 17+ on the highway and yes i know some chevy's get around 20 but I'm not going to bail over 2 mpg.

I live in so cal were the gas has always been ALOT more than the rest of the US. I knew going in that gas was gunna be a killer. I have compensated by not going out to drink ( about $400 a month there ) and next will be to quit smoking ( $1400 ) a year. That alone will help with the gas and other things.

I looked into the things I do and how I can get this truck.. like make the payments, gas and insurance. By doing little things I was able.

Today I drove my wifes 6 cyl SUV because it gets a little better gas mileage than my truck. I also have a GSXR-1000 that I ride to work to help with the gas mileage. Only bad thing with that is all the rain we've been getting down here in Florida. But like others have said, I'll do whatever I need to do to keep my truck.

I drive 2500 miles per month, but have a company gas card I've been averaging 15.5 MPG in the Titan. My V6 F-150 was getting 16.7
