The fan doesnt come on right away. But let me say, when it does come on you will know it. You can hear it 2 blocks away. When mine comes on its hard to talk to someone if we are standing in the front of the truck.

I've only noticed mine running twice. There must be a way to test the fan.

LOL..hear it blocks away? Do you have leaves of something stuck in it> Mines no louder than any other electric fan I've had in a vehicle but....getting back to the thread...lol...

It comes on to help cool when the engine fan needs help....over a certain temp. I've only noticed it on with the A/C but others say it comes on at other times. let it sit idling with the A/C on....you'll see/hear it come on.

Old Speed, I think something might be going on there. When I have the A/C on, my fan always kicks on after no more than a couple of minutes of idling in 90 degree temps. Its harder to tell what its doing while driving, but I can feel it while stopped at a light, and I can tell its still running after driving at highway speeds.

Either yours isn't running enough, or mines running way too much!

Mine turns on after about 5 minutes in 95 degree heat with the AC on. Mine was loud too. Someone on this forum pointed it out to the dealer, and the dealer fixed it (who would of figured, dealer fixed it). Anyways, I took a look at mine, and the same problem existed. The fan mounts with one small bolt centered on top, and to small tabs that fit into the bottom of the radiator assembly. The tabs are just a bit smaller than the holes, which allow the fan to vibrate like crazy, making the noise.
To dampen it, I used 3M double-sided trim tape on the tabs. Worked like a charm. Now I can't tell if the fan turns on.

If you take out the fan and put in an electric, i hear you can gain 2-5hp.
Phillip, he was referring to the electric fan on the A/C condensor, not the radiator fan.
