Is the Titan Rear Diff a big issue?

I am in the process of getting compensation for the time I was with out my 04 Titan. It blew the rear diff with 6k miles. I just want some quick resoponses to see if this is an isolated problem or is it going to keep happening?

Thanks

yeah, I got yours but I am just wondering how many more like us there are? The two dealers I have talked too just look at me with a blank look and act like they have never heardI of it before. I am just spooked that I got a truck I can't trust. I keep on thinking of what I would want to get if I got a new one and I can't come up with anything.

Midwest PD when did yours blow? Are you going to claim Lemon? I am very close. Plus it has been 3 weeks and I have not gotten a call back fron Nissan. Funny thing is I put the Avtar picture in the 06 CWB company catalog. Funny thing is they print 60,000 of them and they get distributed all over the world. I guess it goes on the website also.

It's well known that most 04 modles did not have their diffs properly filled from the factory.

I'd agree with Justintoxicated statement if it said EARLY BUILD '04s. I think after May or June the diffs were filled correctly. My early June built one was fine. I think May was when Nissan sent all those engineers to the plant to get a handle on quality control.

Mine broke at 27,000 miles. Dealer said they had never seen one do that before. Took over 3 weeks to get the new rear in. They replaced the whole axle with the 05 one. Looks better. Hopefully I won't have any problems with it.

Mine took 22k to blow. Imho as stated before I am sure it would have gone much quicker under different circumstances. Personally I no longer want this truck, why would I want another truck with the same differential. Some mention that it is an 04 issue but why have others had numerous replacements with 05 diffs and had the same issues? What happens when I get stuck out in Michigan or Indiana or other surrounding areas with my trailer. Or how bout when my warranty is up and it blows after 60k? My dealer has replaced a few already, imo there is something majorly wrong here.

We will definitely know in a couple years when the people who havent pushed there trucks have put quite a bit of mileage on them. I do hope everything is fine, but not a test I wanna be part of. I do understand that there are rare circumstances in every form of manufacturing but when I bring it to my dealer and he is familiar with this along with many others that have towed I just find it too coincidental. Good luck and Thanks again.

I have a Feb 04 build, and mine had the correct level of lube in it when I bought it. As soon as I got the truck I put synthetic Mobil 1 in it. I tow EVERY day and have had NO probs with the rear end other than the cover rusting. I guess Im the lucky one.
