Unhappy G35 help.....

For those of you that pay attention, I have been thinking of upgrading to a Titan with airbags. While looking into this at a local dealer, I spotted a 2003 G35 for about $4,000 less than the Titan. And it comes with side airbags STD. This has been a car I've wanted for a while now but was too expensive for me. I am going to possible trade in my 2005 Nissan Titan for a 2003 G35 Coupe 6mt. Is there anything I should know about the 2003 year model or the G35 in general before buying? Maybe there are some things I should look out for before purchasing? What do you guys think? Also I am considering a 2003 G35 sedan 6mt. Thanks in advanced for your help!

The G35 is fun to drive but it is small compared to the Titan, heck, it's small period. Forget about Home Depot or even more than a modest grocery run, particularly with the coupe. The trunk is a joke, 2 golf bags maybe if you arrange them right.

Oh yeah, premium fuel too and maybe a little over 20 MPG.

Dude, stick with the Titan. I had a 350Z before the Titan and it just sat in my garage. You can't do anything with it. It attracts way too much attention and I was always nervous parking it anywhere. You can't fit anything it in. Unless you can down grade and have the G35 and another car or truck to drive it might be okay. Don't get me wrong, the Z was lots of fun to drive. However, I can tell you that I have more fun driving my Titan than I did driving my Z. It was like with the Z you expected get performance and get up and go but with the Titan, it like this thing is not supossed to drive like this. Wow, in my opinion, keep the Titan because your going to lose more on the trade than you'll make up on the deal and the resale of the G35. Good Luck.

Wow, I did not expect these kind of replies......I'm not planning on keeping the Titan I have now. Weather it be now, or a year from now, I'm trading my Titan for either, one with side airbags, or a car with them. Seeing that the the cars I have been considering (350z, 05 Mustang, RX-8, G35 (used)) are cheaper than a side airbag equipt Titan (with pop package and tow) along with the rise in gas prices has me leaning more towards cars. Please keep the comments coming. Thanks again!

You're safer in the Titan with no air bags, than the G35 with all the bags.
Somebody planted something in your mind and I guess it's there to stay. I told my wife one of these days the A-holes in the law making business will wake up one day and say " everyone in a motor vihicle should wear helmets" to keep head injuries down. Then we'll all have to run out and buy helmets. When will all this safety crap stop? There is a line to what is and what isn't reasonable and many times people cross that line.
Will it be illegal to ride a motorcycle on day? It just may be.......

I forgot the most important thought. You will not drive the G35 as safely and conservatively as a truck. It's a sports car and you'll do as we all do when we drive one.

I too was looking at the G35 awhile back, I had the oportunity for a long term test drive (8 days while my friend was on vacation). It might be fun to drive but gets kinda rough on the back after awhile. If I was 10 years younger I could take that but the Titan is much a better everyday vehicle for me. In the end it's your call.

I forgot to add, I'm a lucky guy, I drive both. Bought the G35 first, a hoot to drive and, IMHO, it's beautiful. Got the Titan a year later. Guess which one I drive way more?

I too had a 350z and I can tell you that having owned both, there is no way I would go back to a small car. I was just like one of the earlier posters who said his z just sat in the garage. After you go out and accelerate real hard a few times and go around some corners real fast, then all you have is a stinkn' car that can do nothing else. It got old REAL fast. Nice to look at, but that's about it. It really wasn't even that fast to be honest with you (maybe I'm used to motorcycles). Whether you sell the Titan or not, stick with a truck...take it from some guys who have had exactly what you are looking at.

That very sentence was exactly what I was thinking as I read down the thread. I read a column in the paper a month or so ago about crash test ratings. There are some groups lobbying for them to be changed, because the test uses a low slung weight to impact the car. Some of the cars with 5 star ratings would be lucky to get 2 stars when impacted by a higher truck bumper instead of the test sled.

If you think you're safer getting hit at neck height in a car with airbags vs. below hip height in a Titan without, go for it. I don't think you are though.

The G35 is a beautiful car and fun to drive... had one for 6 months, long story, but not tall enough, but a FX35 in my opinion is the best option, a little tall handles really good, etc. if I could not keep the Titan, I would get an FX35 or if I am lucky and FX45, now that is a fun car... drove one for a while, and it is just a rocketship... good luck.

Wow, that's exactly what I would do. Get in, drive it hard around where I could, go home, put it back in the garage. Old, Fast! I also agree that it wasn't that fast but still fun to drive. Oh, and occassionally, I would stare at it in the garage. Sure looked pretty. KEEEEEEP YOUUUURRR TA, TA, TA, TITANNN!!!!

Just think of all the speeding tickets and points you'll accumulate with it. The insurance company will then have a field day.
