Hello everyone, It seemes that I am here to bring the next late breaking news from our local Nissan dealer. Just tonight after dinner: wanted to see if the dealer had the Majestic Blue, the one I posted the other day, cleand and preped, but low and behold another revealition!
GRANITE! To me it is very close to the light gold / pewter types of colors that Chevy has been mixing in different shades for the last 6 years.
All I can say is WOW! It blew me away. It is now my first choice over the Radiant silver with the Majestic Blue a close, very close second!
I was leaning towards the radiant silver for ease of maintainence, questions I posed earlier, over the New Majestic Blue which is dark, but beautiful. Now with the new Granite, I am leaning towards that as my easy to maintain color. My wifes Tahoe is that color(pewter) and our RX-8 (Mazda's name Titanium / Nissan calls it Smoke).
With the extremly good luck we have had with our tahoe finish as opposed to the Mazda's rock chip happy dark finish, I might be adding another light gold color to our fleet.
I will go by the dealer in the am to shoot a proper photo in the early light and post to this thread. I knew when we drove off from the house and I forgot my digital camera, it was a mistake........
Leave it up to Alabama to have New Titans showing up first... Who's behind now.
Ha ha ha!

Man, if that Granite is anything like my '99 Chevy's Light Pewter Metallic, it'd definately be my first choice. I really liked that color, very good about not showing dirt or scratches.
Sammy,
It's only about 4 gallons of gas to satisfy your courisity round trip. Now-a-days you have to think of it in that respect. I think that you'd love it. I was really excited about it tonight when I saw it. If it wasn't for that extreemly large filet and trimmings I had for dinner, I would have drove home and grabed the camera and ran back to shoot a few pics for the fellow members, but sorry guys it was sooooo nice to sit back and relax once home. I'll take a few pics in the early am sun b/f work and post.

Why do that when I can have you do all the leg work?
I might just have to make a trip over tomorrow, if I do I'll be sure to bring a camera. It's doubtful since I need to start building a new sub box.

How do you like your RX-8? I was tempted to get one before I got my Titan, and test drove that along with a series of other cars after I got my graduated and got my job.
I loved driving it, and crisp and solid it felt (inside and out). And the back doors and seats were too cool. But, my RX-7 FC TII was quicker (250+ whp), and I was addicted to my 10 psi boost, so the -8 felt anemic at best. If it had more HP, a la turbo / SC, I probably would have gotten it. I was waiting for a power surge to throw me back in my seat, and it never happened.

The Titan did, and so I got it.
Your right about the power, I had two previous RX's 1993 RX7R1 and 1995 RX7R2, and loved all aspects but one: driving them on anything but completely flat pavement was a two hand white knuckle ride. You didn't relax your hands at all while driving or the wheel would just slip right through your hands at the slightest grove in the pavement. Given the slot car handling, that was dangerously fast lane changes with out warning.
But as far as the 8, we love it. I purchased it as an anniversary present for my wife, and as a result, bought her the automatic. It's ok for around town, but my first choice for me would have been the 6 speed for more power and I love to shift. Neither have that 80 mph suck you back in the seat, or neck snapping red light starts either of the 7's had, but what they give up in drag racing performance they give back 500% in ride quality, handling, and the ability to carry two adults tightly tucked away behind. I actually like riding in the back when not tearing through town.
So is it better than the old 7's YES and NO, but in more ways YES. There are way more positives than negatives between the comparison vehicles. If I had my choice, I'd love to have a Mazda Speed edition with twin turbos pumping out the old favorite 255hp 250 lb ft of torque, and shave the 500 lbs they gained when going from the 7 to the 8. If you have the extra dough to have one as a sports car on the side like we do with ours, since my wife drives her tahoe daily.
Mazda keeps denying that they are ever going turbo another rotary. They said that the performances could be put on par with a three-rotor motor that would add extra displacement and torque to put it back up where it was with the two rotor twin turbo’d engine.
