Smile Buying Titan and need help

I am a newbie to this site, but will hopefully be visiting alot very soon. I currently own a Dodge Dakota and have realized the superiority of the Titan. I found a 2005 Titan KingCab SE 4X4 with the Off-Road Package that I want to buy and after my initial sitdown with the sales guy, I see the on the printout he shows me, the MSRP of the truck. Below that are 2 added costs which I am boggled about. One is a $995.00 paint protectant/sealer fee, and the second is a $695.00 lift kit fee. I asked about the sealer and he tells me that they put this on all new vehicles that come to the dealer, as if it has already been done. I also asked about the lift kit fee and he had the balls to tell me that they install the lift which gives it its higher stance, there at the dealership. I find this impossible to believe. I would appreciate anyone with a 4X4 with the Offroad package to please tell me if they have heard of such insanity, because I want to go tommorrow and buy this Titan. I need some good advise from those who have bought a Titan before. Thank you.

I have a similar 2005 with several more packages. I chose to buy the -optional- Simoniz system that they offered at dealer cost. I have never heard of a lift kit fee- thats an option- tell them you won't pay for it since you don't need it, when you negotiate the price. I got the bedextender and underseat storage free after I told the salesman I wouldn't pay for them.

They are just ways to inflate the price. Don't buy more than you want. If you cannot get them to reduce the price, or eliminate it, leave. Too many others out there will sell you a Titan without the extra dealer markup.

Hi quad . . . find another dealer.
Both the paint stuff and the (no-name?) lift are rip-offs. There are many superior detailing products out there that'll give your paint far better protection and appearance than that $995 junk. If I wanted to lift or level my Titan, the equipment'd come from PreRunnerGreg (one of our sponsors).
A reputable dealer wouldn't add that stuff, unless the customer was foolish enough to ask for it. Work with a dealer who'll sell you a box-stock truck with the factory options you want at a price close to invoice. Then control the modifications yourself.
The next few months are ideal for buying an '05, the '06 trucks are starting to arrive right now.
Of course if cost is no object, it sounds like you've found your Titan already.
I appreciate your Dakota dilema. My son had an '03 before his Titan.
Good luck and welcome to TitanTalk!

Buying a titan and need help

I appreciate all the advice, I was thinking that maybe the 695.00 lift kit added on is the leveling blocks to raise the front end and make it look even, which looks stupid (the front looks higher than the back now). The paint protectant I plan to dispute. My dilema is this. I moved recently from NY to GA and there are only a handfull of 05 4X4's floating around down here. With the emplyee pricing only applying to 05's and a little over a week left in this sale, I am in a pinch. This dealer is the only one that has the truck I want in the South East. I researched this fact already. What to do?

i just got my Titan last week so i know what you are going through.

this is what i gathered from this site so far.

1) the dealer wants to sell you the truck more than you want to buy it.
2) dont be afraid to get up and say you are leaving, they will always pull you back.
3) if the guy you are talking to doesnt want to help you out. ask to talk to someone else. there is someone there that will give you what you want, problem is finding him.

good luck man, its an awesome truck

You will find the truck you want. Don't look at it as if you're under the gun.
Once you do this you lose your bargaining position. Buy the truck from out of state and drive it to GA, look further away from where you are living by using the Nissan dealer locator. Your truck and an honest dealer is out there.

Call Perry Nissan in Columbia MO. 573*449*1660. No add ons, good deals. Paid 26,900 for my CC SE OR msrp of 33,500. It had the tool box which I didn't want, it was removed in minutes.

Bogus ways for that dealer to inflate the price. Tell them you want a Titan without those items. You dont want or need them. (or just tell them to shove it up their A$$ and find another dealership)

I would be leary of a $695 lift kit (installed) like was mentioned probably just the blocks for the axle. I am also not a fan of paint protection anti-theft glass etching etc.

Keep in mind if someone doesn't buy the truck this week or whenever the sale ends it will be on sale next week with a new deal or double (tripple) extended employee pricing.

Take the flip side of Snoop Dogg's advice, "if the ride is less fly, you don't buy!"
