First run at the track... 15.9@87.

Not too dissapointed though. All I have is the Banks exhaust, and I hadn't done ANY prep. Actually I had 3/5 tank of gas, set of tow straps, and a bookbag in the back.

Reaction time was .74, traction wasn't too great but it was a decent launch. Weather was a beautiful 74-deg but humidity was high at 40%. I ran at 75-80 dragway which is only 230ft above sea level..

BUT unfortunatley I had to run against a Ram 2500 with some tuning... not a good end result. He had stacks (the non-muffled ones), no cats, and I believe the Banks Power Pack (he didn't want to tell me exactly). He ran a 15.0 against my 15.9, but later ran a 14.9 against my 16.1 (doh!). I thought he would destory me so I wasn't too mad.

Don't worry I'll be back to the track soon to improve my times!! Will post timeslip, pics, and video later.

Don't worry you had fun right. My first time at the track was with a 1996 Dodge Dakota Sport edition (old old body style). It was a regular cab, 2wd 4cyl 5spd only mod was a tonneau cover. I got matced up against a lightning. Can you say it looked like I wasn'y moving and a buddy video taped it kinda funny yet I still had a good time and I got rubber in 3 gears which probably didn't help.

Oh yea I had tons of fun and I don't think my time is that bad for a first without any prep I'm sure I can make it a 15.6.

I think I ran a 16.9 that time but I forget. I had dreams of throwing a turbo on that truck then it would have been more fun.

Your times should definately get better, esp at that altitude. I run at Bandimere, which is at 5,800'. I ran a best ET of 16.20 on Wed, with a density-altitude of over 8,800'. Sea level correction put me at 15.02. I want to run a few times when temps cool off....track is open until early Oct.

Is the Banks your only mod so far? Add a CAI, like the Volant or AEM and I bet you drop at least a couple tenths. I would at least do the airbox mod and drop in an Air Hog panel filter.

Proves what's been said all along. The Banks saps up some torque....not add it. I've seen stock Titans with faster times. But reaction time, traction etc have a lot to do woth it. You HAVE to find a stock Titan to race Vyrus! That would be the clincher!
Good job, glad you had fun.

Those are very respectful times you have there. Don't be too sad that you got beat by another vehicle. Its a truck for crying out loud Its built for climb ahead!

I agree...you're talking about a 5300 lb brick. Most of the time at the track, you just line up and run whoever's in the other staging lane...could be a 9 sec Camaro, or a 19 sec soccer mom in her Expediton. So, I don't usually think of it as if I'm racing another vehicle....just the clock. I'm sure one of these nights, I'll line up against a Ram Hemi or something else in my class, and there will be more "tension" involved! So far, I just haven't seen many trucks running.

Like others have said...it's about having fun and improving your times/techniques each time out.

Went to the strip last night. My 04 CC 4x4 OR, BT and bed pkg's ran a new personal best of 15.42@88.91, later in the night after folding the mirrors in was finally able to hit 89mph but et was slower. With me in the truck it weighed 5333, bone stock minus the spare, I weigh 150lbs.

Vyrus, you have to work on your launch. 2.5 60ft. is killing you. Pull 2.2's then your et. will be around 15.4. Mine pulls high 2.2's to low 2.3's.

You go to New England Dragway in Epping?? I was thinking we should have a local meet up there on street night. What do you think? I would love to run my titan soon to see how my mods have done.

Sorry to hijack your thread Vyrus.

Vyrus-

I see your in MD. I'm about twenty minutes North of Hagerstown, MD. If you ever want to meet up and head to the track, let me know. I know of, but haven't been to, the track you went to, and of course there's one near Hagerstown, MD as well.

I have a stock Titan, maybe we could race head to head at the track...

I'll probably go back in a couple weeks.. but the track wasn't all that great. Only got 2 runs in 4 hours, then a major accident happened and we waited another hour just to leave. I'll let you know if I go again buzzkillwill, it's $20 for all night and the track is close to sea level so it's not a bad deal. Can also go Saturday morning or so if you like.

I think my main problem is my launch as Supratitan said. 2.5 60' is not good at all, and like I said I was spinning too much. I'll work on it and if I get a 15.4 I'll be ecstatic.

Yes my only mod is the Banks and being that it's my first time dragging I did not even expect to run as well as I did. I have no idea if the Banks does lose torque or not but I will certainly say it did not feel that way when I installed it. Also many of the Titans you saw pulling faster times were not on their first run I'll bet ya that.

Thanks for the replies and support! Maybe I'll get a few more goodies.. that Nismo CAI is calling me...

Congrats Vyrus! I too just ran my first time last time ever. And guess what else we have in common other than trucks...16.03, 15.991,15.939. Man I'm hooked and want to go back. Last night they even let your buddy or wife ride if you were 14 or slower.

The Titan will pull high 2.2 to 2.3's pretty consistantly if you do this. Lower rear tire air pressure, I run it down to 30psi. Stage the truck, left foot on brake, right foot on gas of course VCD off with transmission in 3rd or 4th. Bring the rpm's to just over 1000, This picks up the drivetrain slack, loads the rear tires and will launch faster than off idle. When the tree drops lift off the brake and give about 1/2 throttle to you just begin to move all in one motion, then floor it. It should chirp the tires for a split second and nearly give you whiplash. If you have excessive wheel spin chances are you hit the gas before lifting off the brake.
Also make sure to fold the mirrors in. After 5 runs with traps between 88.61-88.71 mph I folded the mirrors in. I instantly hit 89 mph and if it wasn't for a poorer 60 ft time would have been a new best run. Also yank the spare as it weighs about 100lbs and leave the hood open between runs otherwise as the night goes on the truck gets slower from heat soak. My truck also has been more consistant and faster running 93 octane at the strip. Here's my 2 best slips from last night. I'm car# 452
