Aftermarket diff fluid :)

Been wanting to change the fluid in my pumpkin for a while. I took a trip up in the mountains a few months ago and when I got there the diff was soo hot I couldn't touch it. I had my wife, and a backpack in the truck. It made me nervous to think of the heat that would be generated by towing a trailer.
Anway, threw the Amsoil in there this weekend. I then towed a 3000lb trailer with a old Jeep truck on it to the crusher, then back home (trailer only). Checked the temp with my "hand" guage and it was not that hot.
The oil that came out had lots of chunks of grease in it. The plug itself had a 1/2" thick gob of black grease on there. Black is bad in my book. Don't know about the grease chunks though. Anyway, I feel better with the Amsoil in there.

My drain plug had the glob on it with only about 500 miles and no towing. My truck see's pretty light use, basically as the family car so far . I figured it was assembly lube. Never checked by hand to see how hot it got, just knew from reading here that I wanted the old stuff out of there!
