Question for Crew Cab Owners with a sliding bed extender?

I bought a sliding bed extender for my crew cab. I believe it is the correct one for the crew cab since one of the bars is shorter.

I can put the bed extender against the cab to stow it away but I cannot push it against the cab flipped open. What I mean by flipped open is the position it is in when you have your tailgate down and your bed extender out. I want to be able to push it against the cab like that so I can put items in there that I don't want to fly around the truck.

The wheel wells seem to stop the extender from being able to be put in this position. Is anyone with a crew cab able to do this?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

i have the same problem. when i first got the truck, u used to leave the extender near the tailgate. now i bring a water cooler with me which i tie down to one of the cleats. in order to put the cleat at the end of the bed, i had to relocate the extender to the part of the bed nearest the cab. i've also noticed that you cannot flip the extender out because of the wheel wells.

one suggestion is to leave the extender near the tailgate in the "extended position/flipped out" but slide it towards the cab a bit. i was able to secure my carry toolbox like this so that it would not slide around. you can use this technique for other items as well.

another suggestion is to get the sliding bed divider. it had cutouts for the wheel wells.

I have the same problem and even considered

trimming up the extender to make it fit but havent gotten around to it yet. I thought i could use it through out the whole bed but you cant. I was disappointed also.

Thanks for the replies! I think the sliding bed extender is probably better on the King than on the crew.

Later,

Eric

the funny thing is you probably need it on the crew more than on the king.
