Buy now or hold out a week for a better rebate?

Ok, after whining about my local dealer here the other day, I finally found one who I can work with.

Since it's the last day of the month I'm assuming this dealer will be motivated to move 05 inventory. However the $2250 crew cab rebate ends 9/6 and I'm sure it will be replaced with something higher. Do you guys think the "end of month motivation" will be more valuable to me than the potential increase in the rebate next week? Anyone know what the rebate might be? I'll probably see the dealer tonight anyway, but I was just curious as to what you guys though.

Just wait until gas gets to $4 a gallon. Then they'll be giving them away.

Seriously though, last year's rebates kept getting better until about Nov but they also started much lower than $2250. My guess is they won't go that much lower but may offer better financing rates. Who knows.

When I bought mine last year they had 1500$ rebate. I also waited a little longer to see what would happen. the month before i bought mine it was 2000$
i think your doing pretty good as far as rebate.
But when I bought mine I had an E-mail from dealer with final price out the door tax included, weight fee tire fee- all that crap they like to add on at the end--BEFORE I walked in the door of the dealer- I hope you have the same-My baby ended up 26570$ if that helps

Mossy Nissan San Diego

HI There,
Since we are speaking of months, I lived here in San Diego and if you click the web site below, Mossy Nissan OF San Diego is offering, depending on the model, about $5,250.00 off MSRP on the '05 LE models. That is, $3,000 of the MSRP by the dealer, and the $2,250 is the rebate from Nissan.

Does any know if there is other Nissan dealers in the country that has a better deal than here?

$5,250 is about what I got on mine. Also we financed through a company in California that currently has a 4.6% rate on some new Nissans including the Titan. That is worth checking out. I can' t remember the name of the company right now. This was two weeks ago.

In Northern Virgina they are discounting them for 6500 below MSRP. A quick check at carmax.com for new vehicles will give you some idea.

I would not buy a Titan right now. Don't get me wrong I love the truck...but other trucks are cheaper with employee discounts. You might want to shop around and then use that as pressure to get a lower price.

I disagree....I have compared truck prices of the big three with "employee pricing" and the Nissan Titan. Depending on options and trim level, everything I have seen is within $500 of the Titan....especially the GMC / Chevys. Ford's were about the same price. This is in my experience, and in my part of the country.

Nissan's MSRP is lower than the big three, at least for 2005, so they do not have to discount as much to match the prices. The big three's prices have been over inflated for quite a while.

I agree with you on one premise--I wouldn't buy a Titan right now either....simply because of the gas prices.

Well I went ahead and made the deal last night. I'm going at lunch today to actually sign the paperwork and pay. I paid invoice - rebate, but they gave me $500 less for my trade than it was really worth. I guess they had to recoup the "dealer fee" that I didn't want to pay. I don't think I got a great deal, but I'm happy with it because it's the exact color/configuration that I wanted. It's a smoke LE, but the dealer let me swap for charcoal SE wheels which I like better. Unless I change my mind, I'll have the truck in about 3 hours.

I'll just have force myself not to look in the classifieds now, since the market is going to get flooded with dirt cheap used Titans because of gas prices. Oh yeah, I drive 78mi each way to work and back. I must be crazy.

Cheaper don't make it better. Look at McDonald's...

Wow, you are going to be regretting that one real fast. I hope you make a lot of money and don't mind spending it on gas.

$40 with tolls. We always had a cheap beater pickup as a third car. Now we moved into a neighborhood with a "no pickup" rule. It didn't make sense to keep a beater in the garage and have to leave a nice car out. Plus, the driveway's funky, so it's a pain to shuffle 3 cars. I consolidated the nice car and the cheap truck into a Titan (which only has inches to spare in the garage). Kind of lame when you can have an 85 S10 blazer in your driveway, but not a Lincoln Mark LT.

The truck I got rid of was a 96 ranger, 2.3L, 5sp with 185K hard miles and still running strong when I sold it. This was the most reliable vehicle I ever owned. Other than WalMart oil changes every 15k miles or so and tires, I never had to spend a dime on this truck. I'm going to miss it.
