Angry Another quick GAS poll on Titans

How many of you are in the same boat that I am in and can no longer afford to put gas in your Titan. Personally I have had to park my toy and seek more economical means of transport (trusty 1998 Dodge Neon R/T). Anyone else having to do the same thing?

Right now its $3.35 a gallon here, Titan speak $93.80 a tank full. I drive about 400 miles per week back and forth to work and drive time during work.

I am thinking about car pooling with my dad, work at same company but hours are different. I am going to see if he will change his hours. Work is 5 miles each way but.. thats 50 miles a week I could save there. Here in Cali the gas is much higher than most of the nation, any higher I'm not sure what I am going to do.

Public Trans. is an option to.

Gas is hovering around $3 here, but I have no plans to stop driving my Titan. I knew the mpg was low when I bought it, no need to cry about it now.

I live out in the boonies, [my choice and I knew that it would have some disadvantages, but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages] anyway like I said I live out and I have to drive 60 miles to work each day, there is nobody to carpool with, I have to go to work, I have to have my truck for use on the farm, hunting, etc. The only other option for me is to buy another car that gets better mileage to drive back and forth to work and park my truck. But when you weight in the cost of another car, with insurance, upkeep etc. I dont think I would come out in the long run.
I'll probably just hang on and hope that the situation will be resolved in time. Hopefully sooner than later.

Only vehicle so I going to keep on trucking w/ my Titan. 8 miles to work is too long for a bicycle.

Guys, let me caution you. Please do not sell your Titans over this gas spike. I'm a used car dealer (and also an attorney--I know, what a combination, start the jokes, etc.) and have seen this a number of times. Your Titan will be worth less now because of the panic over gas than after things stabilize, which they will. When gas prices spike, lots of people panic and think they need a smaller car, and we've seen the wholesale prices of small cars skyrocket. But the price of gas will stabilize, and will probably go down some and people will get over their panic and will start looking for fullsize pickups again. Just ride this out, and when it blows over car and truck prices will get back in line with what they've historically been. Also, if you consider the transaction costs of buying another car (sales tax, property tax, insurance, etc.), it usually way more than wipes out any gas savings. If you figure the difference over a year's time what the increase in gas costs you, it usually won't make sense economically.

I'm gonna ride it out- but I will try to ride my bike to work twice a week. It's only 3.5 mi. each way, but in traffic that's a lot of gas wasted idling and putting around. I'm also trying to combine many of my trips so I don't do a lot of back and forth.

Thought about getting a small car to commute with but the costs of insurance, the car itself, etc, etc don't add up for me.

How about a used motorcycle for cummuting to-from work. You can get a decent commuter bike for $4,000 to $6,000 brand new, even cheaper used. And if you end up spending less than $3,000, you still have the truck to haul it to the motorcycle shop

I was thinking about finally getting myself a bike, considering I live 2-3 blocks from work and most of the time the weather is good, yet hot. Plus it helps me get myself into shape better than I am right now, which I keep putting off LOL

I was talking to my parents today and all three of us work in the city and commute back out to the suburbs. It only makes since to start carpooling. The only way gas prices are going to go down is if demand starts to go down or at least stops growing as fast. I figure I can't b*@ch about gas prices if I'm not willing to do anything about it.

As for selling my Titan, HELL NO! I enjoy driving it too much. So I guess I will drive it a little less, but when I have to pay $50.00 for 15 gallons of gas, I hvae to do something.

I'm keeping mine and driving mine as Itoo am in sales. I did some calculations on Monday. My 16 gallons to 16 gallons on my wifes Higlander....she saves .06 cents per mile x that by 15,000 = $900/yr.

Just be glad your not Hemi owner this months consumer reports says they get 8-10 in the city!!!

Too bad we don't have sunshine all the time or else the bike would be the perfect solution.
