How is the King Cab SE?

Hey guys,

I had been planning on purchasing my '06 Titan in December. However, with gas prices so high, I need to do everything I can to keep my payments low. Rather than getting a Crew Cab SE, I have been thinking about getting a King Cab SE with SE Popular package with Captain's Chairs. I can get one of the 2005 models for just over $20,000. The Crew Cab SE would be about 24-25k. What do you guys think?

I've got the 2005 KG SE, and love the truck. There's room behind you for sitting still, just not the leg room. Mostly I only haul kids back there anyway, if anbody does sit there. So it works for me.

Sounds like a good price. I got that with the off road package, utility bed package, Big Tow package, and the SE Popular w/ RF package for 29K & 3% financing and was tickled. Then gas prices shot up.........

But yeah, going with a 05 might be best, you will certainly save some dough, and from what I've read, only minor changes for the 06.

here is a link to post about the 05 to 06 though. For what you are wanting/needing it might be of consideration.

All The Changes From 2005 to 2006

Dec. 1st of 2004 I bought the "ad truck".....the one the dealership runs in the paper along with the stock number and in small print "only one at this price"......$17,998. They tried to add misc. charges like wheel locks, bedliner, pin stripes but I told the guy no, I'll give you $17,998 or I'm not interested. So thats what I got it for. Oh yea, I like the truck alot. It's a strpper model and it's fast and other than the brake SNAFU it's been a pleasnt exsperince. I have 39k miles on it now because I live in Pasadena, Texas and work in Memphis, Tn.... 618 miles oneway that I drive at least once a month and usually twice a month.

I have a KC SE and love it, there is room in the back even for the bigger people. Don't have to push the front seat up to much at all.

I have a KC SE and love it! Room for all kinds of stuff, and in a couple of weeks, some friends and I are headed for Canada. I have sat in the back seat and it really isn't that bad. I have all the packages too. Good luck with your choice, and pray for falling gas prices.

I have A KC and love mine too. Their is room to haul people in the back when needed plus to haul stuff you don't want to leave in the bed. I like the look of the king cab a little better then the quad cab too.

I have an '05 KC SE. Another advantage of the KC is the bed is larger, making it more useable (for me, anyways).

I have an 04 KC and really love the truck. Only problem is tight parking spots with the kids. You have to do the door shuffle. But that is rarely a problem and the extra bed space is great.

This is the exact reason I bought the KC. I have an 04 and there is plenty of room for most situations and the 180 that the rear doors open up too are nice also.

It is all about your needs and only you know them...
For me I did not want a Crew Cab as I have no need for four full-size doors and could not live with such a short bed, so my answer - The SE KC is GREAT!

See my sig for configuration...

I have the KC and it is all I need. I wish it had rear vents, and the rear windows rolled down. My next one may be CC for just that reason.

Like some of the others have already said.............it depends on what you need the truck for.
If like in my case it will be used more often as a "work" truck then I think a K/C is the better route to go. It can haul all of my hunting gear plus my 4-wheeler in the bed with ease.
If you will be using it primarily for hauling wife and kids then obviously a C/C would be the best decision.
I didn't buy the King Cab because it was cheaper,[in fact with all the options I got on my truck it was actually more expensive that some LE crew cabs] but because for what I needed it for, it suited me better.

SE gives you more bed, 1 foot i believe, which is the purpose of a truck IMO. Only thing that seems to bother my passengers is remembering to close the rear door before the front. Just make sure they realize it before they do any damage. Seems obvious, but that's why its a problem, you don't think real hard about closing a vehicle door.

I love my KC. For me right now its great. My dad has the CC and sometimes I wish I had one too, but for the price and what I needed it was the right choice though. Once I have kids I might consider getting a CC, but with the way gas is going its not like I will be driving the truck to just cruise around with the kiddos anyway. That's why my wife has the SUV.

One thing, I really do wish the windows on the KC would vent or roll down...
